I WILL PRAISE YOUR NAME, FOR YOU HAVE DONE WONDERFUL THINGS. ISAIAH 25:1 GOD KEEPS GIVING US REASONS TO PRAISE HIM. God said it, I believe it, that settles it. I know you have heard that statement. Isaiah is basically saying the same thing. He knew that God completes His plans as promised. What is even more wonderful is that God keeps His promises to each one of us. It is good for us to evaluate the blessings in our lives. Think of the prayers that God has answered and then thank Him for the blessings, praise Him for His goodness, and recognize His faithfulness. When we stop and praise the Lord we find a joy inside. I have had many times when I thank Him for not answering the prayers in the way I thought. Instead of always...
I HEARD THE VOICE OF THE LORD SAYING; "WHOM SHALL I SEND, AND WHO WILL GO FOR US?" THEN I SAID, "HERE I AM SEND ME." ISAIAH 6:8 WHOM HE CALLS, HE QUALIFIES, WHOM HE QUALIFIES, HE SENDS. Remember the old gospel song, "Stand up, stand up for Jesus"? The time is coming rapidly when every Christian will need to stand up and be counted. We need to stand against the evil that is peculating in this country and the world. The Word of God is from everlasting to everlasting; of that I have no doubt. I am not Isaiah, yet I see a striking and strong parallel to the state of our nation today. Isaiah was eager to serve and please God but the message he was to deliver was a very grim one. "And He said, 'Go and tell this people, keep on hearing...
The man slowly looked up. This was a woman clearly accustomed to the finer things of life . Her coat was new. She looked like she had never missed a meal in her life. His first thought was that she wanted to make fun of him, like so many others had done before. "Leave me alone," he growled... To his amazement, the woman continued standing. She was smiling -- her even white teeth displayed in dazzling rows. "Are you hungry?" she asked. "No," he answered sarcastically. "I've just come from dining with the president. Now go away." The woman's smile became even broader. Suddenly the man felt a gentle hand under his arm. "What are you doing, lady?" the man asked angrily. "I said to leave me alone. Just then a policeman came up. "Is...
MY SON, HEAR THE INSTRUCTION OF YOUR FATHER. PROVERBS 1:8 HE IS TRULY WISE WHO GAINS HIS WISDOM FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHERS. Proverbs are attributed to King Solomon, and in verse 8 I believe he means both your earthly father and your heavenly one. "The wisdom of Solomon", the wisest king of Israel, but as you read the Book of Proverbs he immediately credits that wisdom to God the Father. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, and instruction in righteousness..." Proverbs is no exception. I will never be as wise as Solomon, nor many of my peers, but I love finding companion scriptures for the verses like today's. I suggest that James provides us with a wonderful and applicable one...

James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given unto him." 1, Pray for God's mercy. We can't play games with God. He knows us inside out. In Luke 18:13, the Bible says: God have mercy on me, a sinner. When you pray for God's mercy, be willing to show mercy yourself. 2. Pray for God's help. Remember Jonah in the belly of the great fish. Jonah was running from God but he realized he couldn't do it without him so he called upon the Lord. When you pray for God's help, be willing to do whatever it takes to make things right. Even if wasn't your fault, even if it was your fault. Maybe you have been running yourself. Stop. Make it right with God first and...
LET YOUR SPEECH ALWAYS BE WITH GRACE, SEASONED WITH SALT, THAT YOU MAY KNOW HOW YOU OUGHT TO ANSWER EACH ONE. COLOSSIANS 4:6 YOU HAVE CALLED US, LORD, TO WITNESS- CALLED TO SPEAK THE TRUTH IN LOVE; O HOW MUCH WE NEED YOUR GUIDANCE AND YOUR WISDOM FROM ABOVE. D. De Haun We are accountable for what we say. The old adage, "Open mouth, insert foot", can often be true. Another, "Be sure your brain is in gear before putting your mouth in motion". Those are some of the world's adages. Jesus told us, "Let your yes be yes, and your no be no, for anything more than that comes of evil". Paul further tells us our speech is important. "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a...
