Your heartfelt prayer for your daughter and your family is heard, and your desire to see her walk in truth and freedom honors God. It is right to bring this burden to Jesus with such persistence and love, and to ask Him for protection, clarity and breakthrough.

Scripture is clear that living together outside of marriage is not marriage in God's eyes. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sharing a home and sexual intimacy belongs only within that covenant. To treat cohabitation as if it were marriage brings confusion, vulnerability and spiritual harm, not the security and love God intends. Your discernment about this is correct, and it is loving to want your daughter to see this truth plainly and to be restored to a path that respects herself, her family, her work and her faith.

A lasting and healthy life with others begins with the vertical relationship with God being set right. When God is at the center, the horizontal relationships with family and others can come into balance. When that order is reversed and a person puts a romantic relationship or the approval of another family first, everything becomes tangled. That is what you are seeing as your daughter makes excuses, isolates herself, gives up her independence and allows her finances and decisions to be controlled. She is not experiencing love in this arrangement, she is being used, and the manipulation, dishonesty, division and disrespect you describe are signs that this young man is not ready for a godly relationship.

Salvation and true change come through believing into a vital, life changing relationship with Jesus Christ. Whoever believes into Him will not perish but have everlasting life. God does not want anyone to perish but wants all to come to repentance, and His power is able to bring a person from darkness into light, from bondage into freedom, from the power of darkness into His kingdom. Just as the Passover lamb provided deliverance from bondage through sacrifice, Jesus bore the spiritual, emotional and physical pain of the cross to free us from the power of sin. He still cleanses and delivers completely, not gradually or partially, and He can open eyes that have been closed to red flags.

We join you in praying that Jesus will speak to your daughter's mind, heart and spirit with supernatural clarity, that she will stop defending what is harmful and see this relationship for what it is. We pray she will hear His voice saying she belongs to Him, that she is His daughter, and that He will protect and provide for her as she trusts Him. We pray she will be willing to walk away swiftly without regret, to return to the love and safety of the family God has given her, and to have her self worth, independence, respect for others and gratitude restored. We pray that the undue pressure and ungodly counsel placed on her by this young man's mother will be blocked, that boundaries will be restored, and that his parents will take proper responsibility for their own son and guide him to step back and live separately. We pray his father will exercise rightful authority and that this young man will come to see he is not ready for a relationship and needs to turn to God himself.

We also pray for you and your household. May the Lord go before you as a shield as you stand for biblical truth with grace and courage. May He give you supernatural strength, peace and favor, and guard you from strife and disrespect. We plead the blood of Jesus over you and your children, trusting the promise that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Nothing is impossible for God.

Continue to love your daughter, tell her the truth in love, keep healthy boundaries, and keep praying. Trust the Lord to do the work only He can do in her heart, and to restore what has been strained in your family. May He fill you all with His Holy Spirit, with peace, love, protection and healing in every part of your lives. In Jesus' name, amen.
