We join you in lifting up this dear woman and the man she has so sacrificially tried to help before the throne of grace, and we share in your heaviness over this devastating news. We see her countless hours of labor, her financial sacrifice, and her hope that God would bring good out of such a painful loss, and we know how crushing it feels when the report from the attorney is that there is no case. We are reminded that the Lord sees every unseen sacrifice and every tear, for Psalm 34:18 tells us The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
We understand your faith that God would work this out for good, and we cling with you to the promise of Romans 8:28 that We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Yet we also humbly acknowledge that His good is not always the outcome we expect or desire, for His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. The loss through divorce is grievous, and the financial burden she has carried is heavy, but God is still sovereign and He is still our refuge. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Even when an earthly case appears hopeless, no situation is beyond His ability to redeem, to guide, and to provide.
You mentioned God but did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently and lovingly share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and can come boldly in prayer. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is because of what Jesus did on the cross, dying for our sins and rising again, that we can bring this need to God with confidence, and we pray that both this woman and this man and you know that saving grace and personal relationship with Him.
We pray together for her now as she faces the attorney and the decision to settle. We ask for the wisdom that God promises to give generously. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. We pray that the Lord would quiet her anxious heart and guard her mind as she waits on Him. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We ask for Proverbs 3:5-6 to be real for her, to Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Let us pray. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious daughter of Yours who is weary and devastated, and the man she has labored to help who has lost so much through divorce. Lord, You see her sacrifice, her hours, her financial loss, and her broken heart over this news. We ask You to be her comforter and her counselor. Grant her clear wisdom and discernment before she meets with the attorney, guide every word that is spoken and every decision that is made regarding a settlement. If it is Your will, we ask for a miracle where man says there is no way, for nothing is impossible with You. But above all, let Your perfect will be done and give her peace to accept and follow Your direction. Provide for her needs according to Your riches, restore what has been lost in the ways only You can, and use even this disappointment for Your glory and her good. Draw both of them closer to Jesus, strengthen their faith, and let them feel Your nearness in this valley. We trust You as our provider and our justice, and we ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to stand with her in prayer, to encourage her to seek godly counsel and to not make hasty decisions out of despair, but to wait on the Lord. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We are trusting with you that God will guide her step by step and that He will sustain her through this difficult settlement process.
