Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this heavy burden and for letting us stand with you in prayer for your dear brother and friend. We have heard your urgency and we are bringing him before the Lord, asking our church family to pray as well.
We believe with all our hearts that God is the healer and that He heals today. A large part of the Gospels shows Jesus touching and healing those who were sick and afflicted, showing His power over infirmities, over the physical world, and over spiritual darkness. Scripture tells us that He bore our infirmities and carried our sorrows, and that by His wounds healing is provided. He is the Lord who heals us, who meets us in our need for salvation, for wholeness in body and mind and spirit.
At the same time we come to Him humbly, knowing that His ways are higher than ours and that we do not fully understand why some are healed in a moment, some are healed gradually through a process that is still His gracious work, and some are not healed in this life as we had hoped. Even the apostle Paul prayed earnestly three times for his own affliction to be removed, and the Lord answered in a different way according to His wisdom. Sickness, even serious illness like cancer, is not a sign that a person lacks faith or has failed spiritually. Good and faithful people suffer, and God can use even hard seasons to work deeply in us, while still being fully able to heal.
So we will not approach God with demanding formulas or work ourselves into a frenzy, but with simple, trusting faith that looks to Jesus. We believe prayer matters, and that faith is more than just believing God can heal, it is actively entrusting this dear brother into His hands.
Our prayer is that the Lord in His mercy would touch your friend, that He would bring healing to his body according to His perfect will, that He would give wisdom to the doctors caring for him, and that He would grant strength, peace and comfort to him and to all who love him. We are asking that if it is the Lord's will, He would extend his life and make his story a testimony to the greatness of God's power and compassion, whether through a sudden touch or through a gradual work. And we are asking that no matter the course of the illness, God would bring deep healing to his heart and mind, sustain him with His presence, and be glorified in his life.
We will continue to pray for him, for you, and for his family, asking the Lord to surround you all with His peace that passes understanding and to help you keep your eyes on Jesus, who loves you and who holds this dear brother in His hands.
