PRAYER FOR HEALING

Thank you for bringing this need and for trusting us to pray with you. We join you in asking God for complete healing for your loved one who is now in the hospital battling breast cancer, and we also lift up her mother who needs strength as a fellow cancer survivor.

We know God is able. Scripture calls us to ascribe glory and strength to the Lord, and when we do that we begin to see our problems in the light of His power rather than in the light of our own weakness and inability. The encouragement of the Psalms is that the Lord Himself is our light and our salvation and the strength of our lives, so we need not be afraid. He is a shield for those who trust Him, He helps us, and He gives strength to His people and blesses His people with peace. Because He reigns over all, seated upon His throne, His promise to give strength and peace is deeply meaningful for you right now.

A large part of the Gospels shows Jesus touching and healing those who were sick and afflicted, and Matthew connects that ministry to the prophecy in Isaiah that He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. That is the Savior we are praying to, the One who has power in every realm and compassion for every sufferer.

There is much about healing we do not fully understand, and we do not know why some are healed instantly and others are healed gradually. We believe very strongly that God does heal, and that all true healing is from Him. Sometimes He heals in a moment with a word or a touch, and sometimes He heals gradually through the processes He has built into our bodies and through the care of doctors and treatment. That gradual work is no less divine, for He is the Creator of nature and of every healing process within it. He also brings healing to the mind and heart, calming fear and mending the wounds that suffering leaves behind. Jesus was never confined to one pattern, and we can trust His wisdom and love to work in the way He knows is best.

So we pray with you for what you have asked, that the tests would come back negative, that every tumor would disappear, and that God would bring complete restoration to her body. We pray that He will give her comfort and peace in the hospital, and that He will sustain her mother with fresh strength each day, as one who understands this road so personally. May His Word be your portion and your strength in these days, and may you know His presence keeping watch over you both.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear daughter before You. You see her in that hospital room and You know every detail of her body. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing power to rest upon her. If it is Your will, make the tests show no cancer and cause the tumors to be gone. Give wisdom to every doctor and nurse who cares for her. Pour out Your strength and Your peace upon her and upon her mother, lift them up when they are weary, and help their hearts to rejoice and trust in You. We place them in Your hands and ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
