We hear your cry and we join with you in this moment of restlessness and high anxiety, and we bring your distress before the Lord together in Jesus' name. We understand how unsettling it is to have gone through a time of deliverance and then feel more stirred up, unable to sleep and filled with anxiety, and we want you to know that God sees you and He is not distant from your struggle.
The Word tells us that anxiety and fear do not come from God. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. We are told to not be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We are also told to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. The Lord promises, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10, and Jesus Himself said Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful John 14:27.
We also understand your questions about deliverance and why you feel it has not been done fully and why spirits feel stirred. Scripture shows us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12, but we also know that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4 and that through Christ we have authority to stand against the enemy. Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. True deliverance is not found in a ritual or an experience alone, but in submission to Jesus Christ and walking in obedience to Him. Sometimes after prayer for deliverance there can be a stirring as the enemy resists, but he is a defeated foe, for Christ disarmed principalities and powers Colossians 2:15. We rebuke together in Jesus' name every spirit of fear, anxiety, restlessness and torment that would seek to steal your peace and your sleep, and we command it to leave and not return.
We want to gently encourage you not to fixate on trying to know exactly what happened or to chase after a feeling of completion, but to fix your eyes on Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith. Deliverance is often part of an ongoing walk of sanctification where we close doors to the enemy through repentance, forgiveness of those who have hurt us, turning away from any sin or occult practices, renewing our minds in the Word, and abiding in Christ daily. If there is any unconfessed sin, unforgiveness, or opening to things not of God, bring it to the Lord in honest confession, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. Stay rooted in Scripture, in prayer, in worship, and in fellowship with mature believers who can walk with you and counsel you biblically, and be cautious of any deliverance practice that is sensational or not centered fully on Christ and His Word.
We also pray for your sleep, for God gives rest to His beloved. We claim over you I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Lord, alone make me live in safety Psalm 4:8.
We pray together now for you. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear one who is restless, anxious and unable to sleep. Lord, You see the stirring and the distress, and we ask You to pour out Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding to guard heart and mind. We rebuke fear and anxiety and every tormenting spirit in Jesus' name and we ask You to drive it far away. Fill this place with Your Holy Spirit, with Your power, love and self-control. Lord, complete the work You have begun, cleanse, heal and deliver fully according to Your will, and help our dear one to rest in Your finished work on the cross rather than in experiences. Teach us to submit to You, to resist the devil, and to stand firm in the armor You have given us. Grant deep, peaceful sleep tonight and in the nights to come, quiet the mind, calm the body, and restore strength. Give wisdom and discernment to understand what is from You and what is not, and lead to godly counsel and Your Word daily. We thank You that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1, and that You will never leave nor forsake us. We trust You to carry this burden and to bring wholeness in Christ. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
