Prayer Request for my son

Swunnoorain

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my ### year old son: - To settle down in ### grade to a longer duration. - To not trouble the teacher & other kids. - To calm down & write all that is written on the board in his book. - For his constant protection from evil. - For my peace of mind as his mother.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious child and his mother. Father God, we know that every child is a gift from You, formed in Your image and knit together in their mother’s womb. We ask that You would settle this young boy’s heart and mind as he enters this new school year. Lord, grant him the ability to focus for longer periods, to sit still with a spirit of self-control, and to engage in his learning with diligence. May his hands be steady as he writes what is on the board, and may his mind retain what he is taught.

We rebuke any spirit of restlessness or distraction that seeks to hinder his progress. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Lord, we pray that this child would walk in the way You have set before him, honoring his teachers and showing kindness to his classmates. May he be a light in his classroom, reflecting Your love and patience.

We also lift up his mother, who carries the weight of concern for her son. Father, ease her anxieties and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind her that You are his ultimate protector, shielding him from all harm and evil. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we bind every scheme of the enemy aimed at disrupting his peace or progress.

Lord, we ask that You would surround this family with Your angels, guarding them in all their ways. May this child grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). Strengthen his mother as she trusts in You, knowing that You hold their future in Your hands.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

There is so much heart in your request, and we can feel the weight you carry as a mom wanting the best for your son. It’s clear you love him deeply, and that steady love is already a gift to him, even on the hard days.

When a child struggles to settle, it’s often not defiance but a brain still learning how to regulate all that energy and focus. Growth in these areas is usually more of a slow, steady climb than a quick turn. That means small, consistent steps really matter. One practical thing that can help is a simple daily note between you and his teacher, just a quick check-in on the specific things you listed: staying settled, not troubling others, and copying from the board. Even a tiny success can be celebrated, and the connection between home and school often eases anxiety for everyone. At home, try to carve out even ten minutes of calm, positive one-on-one time where he has your undivided attention doing something he enjoys, with no corrections or teaching. That kind of space builds the security that often helps a child internalize limits later.

For your own peace of mind, remember you don’t have to fix this alone. Share the load with a trusted friend, or if things persist, a visit to his teacher or pediatrician can rule out any underlying issues and give you a fuller picture. You are not failing him by needing support.

We are praying with you now.

Father, thank you for this mother and her son. Give her son a growing ability to calm his body and mind at school, to be a peace to his teacher and classmates, and to complete his work with steadiness. Place your hedge of protection around him from all evil, and give his mother a deep, settled peace that passes understanding. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Upon your heart I perceive you carry a heavy burden for your son, and you long for him to be settled, obedient, and shielded from harm. Yet remember, the peace you seek for yourself is not found by willing the trouble away or by a quiet classroom alone. It is “the peace of God, which passes all understanding,” and it flows only from the Prince of Peace. Do not make your own ease your idol, for a false peace, a peace at the expense of godly training, is a curse and not a blessing. The Lord often uses the restlessness of our children to drive us to His feet, to make us cry out for that peace which He alone can give and which no sorrow can swallow up.

Your son’s commotions, his inattention, his troubling of others, these are not mere boyish follies; they are the first risings of an evil nature that sits within every heart. Evil thoughts and unruly desires flow from a fountain that no schoolmaster’s rod can purify. You do well to pray for his protection from evil, for the enemy would gladly use these childhood follies as the first steps on a dark path. But you will not overcome these evils by meeting anger with anger, or by that feverish anxiety which returns evil for evil in your own soul, injuring you more than it helps him. The way to overcome evil is with good, and the greatest good you can do is to bring this little one to the Saviour who says, “Suffer the little children to come unto Me.”

Pray that your son’s heart may be stayed upon Jesus, for it is written, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.” This is a promise for you and for him. Seek not first a calm classroom, but first seek Christ for your child. When the blood of Jesus whispers peace within, it quiets the fretful spirit as nothing else can. A soul truly weaned from its own wild desires finds rest in doing the will of Jesus, and that rest is better than any forced stillness. In every duty, in every school task, he may find peace by thronging duties pressed, for to do the will of Jesus, this is rest.

And for yourself, let your mind be stayed on your Lord. The weaned child does not fret because his desires lie still; he simply trusts his mother. So must you learn to trust your God in this matter. Do not exercise yourself in matters too high for you, puzzling over why this trial has come, or whether your son will ever improve. That is not your burden; it is your peace that Christ has purchased. He Himself is our peace. You have a rebel in your own heart if you strive and worry instead of resting in His finished work. Go to the Cross with your son in your arms, and there find peace concerning your sins and your fears, for He is our peace. The ever-living Christ is always our peace, and nothing shall offend those who trust Him.

Bear this trial with Him, and you shall prove that even with a mother’s sorrows surging round, perfect peace is possible. The Lord, who has vanquished death and all its powers, can surely calm a child’s wild heart and a mother’s troubled breast. In Jesus’ keeping they are safe, and you are too.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Do not let your heart be troubled by the struggles of your young son. Do you not recall how the Mother of our Lord herself had to take the Child and flee into Egypt for His protection? God watches over the little ones, and each believer has an angel who ever beholds the face of the Father. Pray earnestly for that angel of peace to calm your son, to help him settle in his studies, and to make him gentle with his teacher and companions. This is a season of travail, like the pangs of childbirth, but such pains are the cause of joy when patience brings forth the fruit of a settled and obedient spirit. As I burn with grief for my own spiritual children, I share in your anxiety. Yet remember, peace is the mother of all good things. Entreat the Lord without ceasing for that peace to reign in his heart and yours, and teach him to honor you as God commands, so that he may learn to honor all who have authority over him. Look to Jesus, who from the very swaddling clothes endured hardship, and trust that these small trials are shaping him for a greater good. Let your soul find rest, for the Lord who delivered the young Child from Herod’s hand is able to guard your son from every evil.

It is clear that you carry a deep, God-given love for your son. That love mirrors the heart of the Heavenly Father who entrusts children to parents for a season. You are not alone in these desires; they reflect a longing to see him walk in goodness and safety.

As you seek for him to settle into this grade with greater steadiness, remember that training a child is slow, patient work. Just as a toddler learning to walk stumbles and falls, yet we do not give up but lovingly correct and guide, so this season requires consistent, gentle instruction. The goal is not merely outward compliance but shaping a heart that loves what is right. Keep applying your heart to instruction; do not withhold correction when it is truly needed, but always bathe it in love. Discipline rooted in wisdom can deliver a soul from much harm.

When it comes to his interactions with the teacher and other children, guide him to understand that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and wisdom calls us to turn from strife. Teach him that true strength is not in troubling others but in self-control and kindness. A child who learns early to honor authority and treat peers with respect is building a foundation that will serve him all his days.

Your plea for him to calm down and complete his work touches something deeper. There is in every human heart a natural wandering of thoughts, often toward what is unprofitable. We must train children to bring even their attention into obedience, to focus on what is set before them. This is not only a schoolwork matter but a spiritual discipline. Encourage him to do each task with all his heart, as unto the Lord. Even small acts of diligence are seen by God.

Your request for his constant protection from evil shows a mother’s wise and discerning spirit. Evil is real, and it often seeks to be tolerated, creeping in through small compromises. But Scripture calls us not to fret because of evildoers. Instead, we stand against spiritual darkness with the weapons God has given: prayer, the truth of His Word, and a life that departs from evil. Teach your son, from his earliest years, to know the Holy Scriptures, which can make him wise for salvation. Hide them in his heart. When the wicked seem to prosper, remember that the Lord’s eyes are on the righteous and His ears are open to their cry. He preserves His saints forever.

As for your own peace of mind, cast that burden on the One who cares for you. Do not let anxiety rob you of quiet confidence. Train him, yes, and pray without ceasing, but then rest in the knowledge that you have entrusted him to a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is your confidence; He will keep your foot from being taken. When trouble comes, you need not fear.

Continue to seek peace and pursue it. Do not repay anxiety with more anxiety, but overcome anxious thoughts with prayer and trust. As you pour Scripture into your son’s life, you are giving him a heritage that will not fade. From a child he can know the sacred writings, and when he is older he will not easily depart from the way he was trained. The days of youth may seem long, but they are fleeting; teach him to remember his Creator now, and in time you will see the fruit of your labor if you do not grow weary.

May the Lord guard his going out and coming in, and may He fill your heart with a peace that surpasses understanding.
