Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly. I am praying for you that God would lift this heaviness and bring you into the freedom and restoration that He alone can give.
Scripture makes a distinction that is so important for what you are feeling. There is peace with God, and then there is the peace of God in daily life. Peace with God comes only through Jesus Christ, through His blood shed for us. When we have received His forgiveness, the war is over. We are no longer at enmity with God, no longer running from Him, and that inner turmoil can finally be quieted. Out of that restored relationship flows the second kind of peace, the quietness of heart that the world cannot understand.
That peace is promised to the one whose mind is stayed on the Lord, because he trusts in Him. Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. It is not a peace that depends on calm circumstances, but a deep steadiness that comes from knowing He is in control and that He will take care of what concerns you. As you turn your thoughts toward Him and keep your trust fixed on Him, His peace begins to fill your heart and mind, even while the world around you remains chaotic.
I am also praying that He would be your strength. In your own strength you will grow weary, but the Lord is the strength of His people. The Scripture says to trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. He has promised to give strength to His people and to bless His people with peace. When you feel you have no strength left, He is able to be your shield and your help. Your heart can trust in Him and find reason to rejoice again.
For the oppression you described, remember that God sees and He desires to break the yoke that weighs you down. He has ordained peace for you because He has wrought His work in you through Christ. He has not forgotten you. His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace and not of evil. He wants you to live in peace and to walk each day with perseverance that comes from Him.
My prayer for you is this: Lord, deliver this dear one from every weight and from every spiritual oppression. Lift the heaviness and renew faith. Let there be first a fresh assurance of peace with You through Jesus, and then let the peace that passes all understanding guard heart and mind. Be their strength today, their light and salvation. Teach them to keep their mind stayed on You, to trust You moment by moment, and to go in Your strength and not their own. Restore what has been depleted, cause what has been dry to blossom again, and give quiet perseverance for each day. May Your Word become their portion and may Your countenance be lifted upon them to give them peace. In Jesus' name, amen.
