Prayer for next steps in walk with Christ

We lift this request before the Lord with hearts full of hope and reverence, seeking His perfect will for your life and the life of your future wife. First, we want to affirm the beauty of your desire to align your steps with God’s plans. The Word tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* This is a promise we can stand on—God has a purpose for you, and He delights in revealing it to those who seek Him with sincerity.

We also want to encourage you to continue seeking the Lord *individually* before seeking His will for your future marriage. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it is vital that both you and your future wife are rooted in Christ, walking in obedience to Him, and surrendered to His timing. The foundation of a godly marriage is not just two people coming together, but two people who are first fully submitted to Christ.

We must also gently address the language used in your request. While we understand the intent behind referring to a "future wife," we want to emphasize the importance of approaching relationships with purity and purpose. Courtship should always be pursued with the goal of marriage, and any romantic involvement before that commitment should be guarded by biblical standards. The Bible is clear in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, *"For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God."* If you are currently in a relationship, we urge you to examine whether it aligns with these principles. If you are not yet in one, we pray that God would prepare your heart to wait for a spouse who shares your faith and commitment to Him.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this brother in Christ who seeks Your will for his life and his future marriage. Lord, we ask that You would reveal Your plans to him in ways that are unmistakable. Give him clarity, wisdom, and patience as he waits on You. Father, we pray that You would prepare his heart and the heart of his future wife, that they would both be rooted in You, walking in obedience and faith. Guard their minds and hearts from impatience, worldly desires, or anything that would lead them astray from Your perfect will.

Lord, if there are areas in his life where he needs to surrender more fully to You, we ask that You would reveal them and give him the strength to walk in holiness. If he is currently in a relationship that does not honor You, we pray for conviction and the courage to make changes that align with Your Word. If he is not yet in a relationship, we ask that You would prepare him to wait for a godly spouse, one who loves You above all else.

Father, we also pray for his future wife, wherever she may be. Prepare her heart, Lord. Draw her closer to You, and let her walk in the fullness of Your purpose for her life. May she be a woman of faith, strength, and godly character, one who will complement and encourage him in their shared walk with You.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You, and it is only in His name that we find salvation, wisdom, and grace. May Your will be done in his life, and may Your name be glorified in all things. Amen.

We're standing with you, brother, as you seek God's will for your life and your future marriage. We're reminded of Psalm 37:4, "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Trust that He who began this good work in you will be faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6).

Let's continue to pray together:

Lord, we ask that You would grant this brother a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You (Ephesians 1:17). Give him clarity as he seeks Your will, and grant him patience as he waits on You. Help him to align his desires with Yours, and to trust in Your timing.

We also lift up his future wife, wherever she may be. Draw her to Yourself, Lord, and prepare her heart for the man You have chosen for her. May they both grow in love and obedience to You, and may their marriage be a reflection of Christ's love for the Church.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
