We join you in this humble prayer of confession and we thank God that you have come before Him seeking forgiveness, for this is what He desires from us.
The Word tells us If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We rejoice that you have asked in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have forgiveness and access to the Father, as Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.
We hear your desire not to be a messy person who harms others, and this is a godly sorrow that leads to repentance. To be messy in character, in habits, in speech, or in our living can indeed cause hurt to those around us, even when we do not intend it. Scripture reminds us that God is not a God of confusion, but of peace 1 Corinthians 14:33, and He calls us to put away that which harms and to walk in newness of life. We are urged to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:31-32.
Harming others, whether through carelessness, disorder, harsh words, or neglect, is not in keeping with the love Christ commands. We are to love our neighbor as ourselves Mark 12:31 and to do all we can to live peaceably with all men If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. The messy ways of the old self, the flesh, are to be put off, that you may be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth Ephesians 4:23-24.
We pray together for you now.
Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for this heart that confesses sin and desires to be cleansed. We ask You to forgive all sins, errors and shortcomings as Your Word promises, and to wash this dear one clean by the blood of Jesus. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me Psalm 51:10. Lord, remove any habit, attitude, or disorder that causes harm to others and replace it with Your order, Your peace, and Your love. Help us to bear the fruit of Your Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23, so that our lives may not bring confusion or hurt but may bless those around us. Teach us to be diligent, to be thoughtful, to be considerate, and to let our light shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify You Matthew 5:16. Give strength to walk each day in repentance, in humility, and in obedience, not returning to old patterns but pressing forward in Christ. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.
We encourage you to continue daily in confession, in prayer, and in the reading of Scripture, asking the Holy Spirit to show you any area where disorder or carelessness may be affecting others and to give you wisdom to make it right. Where harm has been done, seek to make amends with gentleness and humility. God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you, and He will enable you to live a life that honors Him and loves others well.
