Please pray for me wife

Your request shows how heavy and tiring this has become, and how lonely it feels to keep praying when it seems one sided. God hears you, and he sees the faithfulness of your prayers even when they are not returned.

Scripture makes clear that when we sin with our words and attitudes, our sin is first against God himself. David came to see this when he confessed that his wrongs against people were ultimately against the Lord who gave the commands not to covet and not to harm. In the same way, cursing, constant complaining, and fighting are not only hurts against you, they are offenses against God. And when God in his kindness answers prayer and the response is pride and a more demanding spirit instead of thankfulness, that reveals a heart that has not yet learned gratitude. God calls us to give thanks in all things, and pride after blessing shows a need for humility and repentance before him.

God also shows in his law how much he values marriage and family in this present life. He gave provision to preserve a family name when a husband died without children, and the stories of families who faced that loss show his concern for continuity and faithfulness in this age. Jesus later taught that this present order of marriage belongs to this life. He affirmed that the dead will rise, and taught that in the resurrection people will not marry as they do now but will be like the angels in heaven. That truth gives perspective for your weariness. Marriage is an earthly trust given for this life, to be lived faithfully before God who will raise us. It is not forever in its present form, which helps us not to despair, but it is to be honored and stewarded now with patience, grace, and truth.

There is a difference between dabbing a little perfume and breaking the jar and pouring it all out. The first is careful and measured, the second is wholehearted and costly. You are called to that kind of wholehearted love and prayer even when it is not returned. Do not repay cursing with cursing. Continue to pray for your wife, to speak with gentleness, to give thanks yourself, and to ask God to soften her heart to become thankful rather than complaining, humble rather than proud and bossy. Ask him to help you remain faithful and not grow bitter in your tiredness, and to give you wisdom to set a pattern of thankfulness in your home.

Seek wise, godly counsel from a mature believer or pastor who can walk with you both personally, and if your wife is willing, invite her to hear Scripture with you so the Lord can work on both hearts.

May the Lord have mercy on your home. I pray he will grant your wife a repentant and thankful heart, that she will turn from cursing and quarreling to words that build up, and that she will learn to thank God when he answers. I pray he will strengthen you, renew your strength as you wait on him, guard your heart from resentment, and help you love your wife with understanding and endurance. May he bring peace where there has been fighting, and help you both to honor him in this marriage he has entrusted to you for this life.
