Prayer for wife

My wife will not relax. She seems to be getting angrier every single day and the better I am doing with my job and everything, the worse her behavior becomes. She can’t decide whether she wants me at home or not, and she becomes more and more paranoid about my actions when I am away from home. When I am at home, she is wants to watch me every second. She is constantly interrogating me and cursing at me, and questioning everything I’m doing. Her stress is causing her health issues. She is yelling and screaming every single night. This is out of control.

We are lifting you and your wife up together before the Lord and we understand how heavy and exhausting this has become for you and for your household. Marriage is a sacred and lifelong covenant before God between a man and a woman, and what God has joined together, let no man separate, Mark 10:9. We hear your pain as you describe her constant anger, paranoia, interrogation, and yelling every night, and we also hear your concern for her health as stress is taking a toll on her body. This is not how God desires a husband and wife to live together.

Scripture calls husbands to love their wives with a sacrificial and patient love, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it, Ephesians 5:25, and Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them, Colossians 3:19. It also calls both husband and wife to put away sinful patterns of speech and anger. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear, Ephesians 4:29, and Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, Ephesians 4:26. We must gently but clearly rebuke the cursing and screaming you describe, because out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so, James 3:10. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger, Proverbs 15:1, and So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God, James 1:19-20.

We also hear that as you are doing better at work, her behavior worsens and she is paranoid about your actions when you are away and watches you constantly when you are home. This suggests deep insecurity, fear, and a lack of trust and peace in her heart, and it may also suggest that the enemy is sowing division in your marriage. You can help by living above reproach and being transparent with your whereabouts and communications to help rebuild trust, and by not provoking her, but responding with gentleness and consistency. At the same time, her interrogating and controlling behavior is not healthy or biblical, and she needs to learn to trust you and more importantly to trust the Lord with her fears. We encourage you both to seek godly biblical counseling together with your pastor or a mature Christian counselor, and for her to see a doctor about the health issues and stress, because our bodies suffer when our souls are not at rest.

God invites us to bring our anxieties to Him. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7, and Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28. Dwell together with wisdom, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered, 1 Peter 3:7.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace in our homes. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you both to place your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and lift up this husband and his wife to You. Lord, You see the turmoil in this home, the nightly yelling, the cursing, the paranoia, the constant tension and the exhaustion. We ask You to pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding upon this wife, calm her anxious and angry heart, heal the stress that is harming her health, and deliver her from fear and suspicion. Help her to control her tongue and her temper and to speak with grace and respect. Lord, give this husband supernatural patience, wisdom, strength, and a gentle spirit to love his wife as Christ loves the church, to not return harshness for harshness, but to be an example of steady, faithful, transparent love. Restore trust between them, teach them to communicate honestly and to listen to one another, and draw them both closer to You. Lead them to godly counsel and to help for her health, and let their marriage be a testimony of Your restoring power. We pray that both of them will seek You first and know Jesus as their Savior and Lord, for it is in His name we have hope. Amen.

We've been holding you and your wife before the Lord after reading this. Living with nightly yelling, constant questioning, and feeling watched in your own home is exhausting, and we can hear both your concern for her and how worn down and confused you feel about what she actually wants from you.

It makes sense you are worried about her health as well as the strain on your marriage. Often persistent anger is a signal that a person feels hurt, afraid or overwhelmed inside and doesn't know how to name it. That doesn't make the cursing and interrogating okay, but it can help to understand it as a sign she is struggling deeply, not just reacting to you doing better at work.

When things are calm, not in the heat of an argument, it can help to gently tell her you love her, you are concerned about her health, and you want help together. We would encourage you to lovingly urge her to see her doctor about the health issues you mentioned, alongside prayer, and to reach out to a trusted pastor or counselor who can give you both a safer place to talk and be heard. You don't have to carry this alone or figure it out by yourselves.

Father, we lift this couple to You. You see the tension in their home and the hurt they both carry. Bring calm where there has been yelling, care for this wife's body and heart, and give this husband wisdom, patience and strength. Lead them to trustworthy help and help them hear each other with gentleness. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry concerning your wife and your home has been heard, and we bring it before the Lord with a heavy and tender heart. To live under constant interrogation and cursing, to hear yelling and screaming every night, and to watch the one you have vowed to love grow more angry and more fearful even as you labour to do well, is a sore trial. Her stress now touching her health makes the burden heavier still, and we do not make light of it.

There is a peace which the world cannot give and which duty cannot manufacture. The prophet has said, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. That perfect peace is not found in watching every movement or in demanding answers for every moment away, but in a mind stayed upon Christ. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and that whisper can calm the midnight of this world of care. We pray that your wife may know that peace which is a present possession even in the ordinary circumstances of life, and that your home may prove the truth that to do the will of Jesus, this is rest. Bear your sorrow with Him, and He will give you both a calm which a thousand questions can never secure.

You have asked for prayer for your wife, and we pray for her as one joined to you in the holy covenant of marriage. Marriage is not a mere contract between two persons maintaining their own separate lives, but a union wherein husband and wife become one. As Christ loved His Church and gave Himself for her, so love must cement this bond with patience, sacrifice and constancy. The essence of the marriage bond is unity, and that unity is preserved not by suspicion and surveillance, but by mutual love and trust before God. We pray that the Lord will teach you both anew what manner of love this is, that you as her husband may love her as Christ loves His spouse, not returning anger for anger, and that she may be delivered from the spirit of fear and jealousy which now torments her.

Scripture tells us, Be ye angry, and sin not, and it is hard for fallen hearts to be angry and yet not sin. Our Lord Himself was grieved at hard hearts, yet His anger was without sin, for He was angry that men would not let Him bless them. We must each ask, Why art thou angry, and not be angry with God or with one another without cause. The peace that many seek is a false peace, when Satan makes conscience lie still, and men cry peace, peace where there is no peace. The true peace is peace with God through the blood of atonement, and peace in the conscience which flows from it as a crystal stream from its fountain. It is a peace which God the Father gives, which Jesus Christ bought, and which the Holy Spirit works in the soul. It is not the lull of stupefaction, but a peace with reason and ground, even the finished work of Christ.

Therefore we pray for your dear wife, that God would quiet her troubled mind and heal the stress which now afflicts her body. May He lift the paranoia and the restless need to watch and question, and give her a mind stayed on Him. May He forgive where there has been cursing and wrath, and grant repentance and gentleness. We pray for you, that you may be kept from bitterness, that you may answer with grace and not with heat, and that you may be at peace with her even when she is not at peace with you, remembering that before we can hope to have peace with God we must seek peace with those nearest to us.

We ask the Lord Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to bless His people with peace in your house. He has sworn that He will not be angry with His people as to cast them away, and nothing but love guides the hand of His providence even when He chastens. May you both seek Christ first, for peace will come next, and it will be the peace of God which passes all understanding, peace from lips that cannot lie and from a heart which cannot change.

Continue in prayer together when you are able, keep your mind stayed upon Christ through His Word, and seek the help of a faithful pastor and, for her health, the counsel of a physician, that both soul and body may be cared for. The Lord who joined you together is able to keep you, and we plead His keeping for you both and for your home, that earthly struggles may be met with heavenly peace until He calls us to Heaven's perfect peace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard and your pain and concern for your wife and your home have been brought before the Lord.

Marriage is a bond ordained by God and Scripture calls it honorable. It is meant to be a place of peace and holiness, of chaste and orderly love where husband and wife help one another and preserve one another in faith. The word of God calls us to follow peace with all men and holiness, and that peace must begin in the home. We are also taught that the standard for us now is stricter and more searching, that even anger in the heart is a serious matter before God, and we are called to put it away and to be gentle and patient with one another.

Hearing that your wife is living under such constant stress and anger, that she is unable to find rest, that she watches and questions and speaks with harsh words, and that this is affecting her health and filling your nights with yelling, is a heavy burden. Such unrest does not come from God, who desires to give rest to the weary and peace to the troubled heart. Her health issues and her increasing fear and suspicion show that she is in need of deep healing and support, and you in need of strength and wisdom to respond with love and not with anger in return.

We will pray for you both.

We pray that God would have mercy on your wife and grant her relief from this agitation and fear, that He would calm her heart and mind, ease the stress that is harming her body, and help her to find true rest. We pray that He would take away the spirit of anger and suspicion and replace it with peace, clarity and trust. We pray that He would heal what is wounded in her and renew her strength.

We pray for you, that God would give you patience, steadiness and gentleness in these difficult nights, that you would not be overcome by anger when you are interrogated or cursed at, but would answer with grace and self control. We pray that He would give you wisdom to know how to love her well, when to be present and when to give space, and how to seek peace without losing truth.

We pray for your marriage, that God would guard this covenant and make your home a place of order, safety and chasteness, where both of you are honored and where peace can grow again. We pray that you both would be drawn closer to Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and by whose grace we are changed.

Continue to bring this before the Lord daily. Seek also wise and godly counsel together, and encourage your wife to seek care for her health with a trusted doctor and with a pastor who can walk with you both closely. Do not carry this alone. If there is ever any threat to safety, seek help immediately from trusted family, church leaders or appropriate services.

May the Lord hear your cry, have compassion on your household, and lead you both toward healing and peace.
