We are lifting you and your wife up together before the Lord and we understand how heavy and exhausting this has become for you and for your household. Marriage is a sacred and lifelong covenant before God between a man and a woman, and what God has joined together, let no man separate, Mark 10:9. We hear your pain as you describe her constant anger, paranoia, interrogation, and yelling every night, and we also hear your concern for her health as stress is taking a toll on her body. This is not how God desires a husband and wife to live together.
Scripture calls husbands to love their wives with a sacrificial and patient love, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it, Ephesians 5:25, and Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them, Colossians 3:19. It also calls both husband and wife to put away sinful patterns of speech and anger. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear, Ephesians 4:29, and Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, Ephesians 4:26. We must gently but clearly rebuke the cursing and screaming you describe, because out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so, James 3:10. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger, Proverbs 15:1, and So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God, James 1:19-20.
We also hear that as you are doing better at work, her behavior worsens and she is paranoid about your actions when you are away and watches you constantly when you are home. This suggests deep insecurity, fear, and a lack of trust and peace in her heart, and it may also suggest that the enemy is sowing division in your marriage. You can help by living above reproach and being transparent with your whereabouts and communications to help rebuild trust, and by not provoking her, but responding with gentleness and consistency. At the same time, her interrogating and controlling behavior is not healthy or biblical, and she needs to learn to trust you and more importantly to trust the Lord with her fears. We encourage you both to seek godly biblical counseling together with your pastor or a mature Christian counselor, and for her to see a doctor about the health issues and stress, because our bodies suffer when our souls are not at rest.
God invites us to bring our anxieties to Him. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7, and Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28. Dwell together with wisdom, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered, 1 Peter 3:7.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace in our homes. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you both to place your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9.
We pray together for you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and lift up this husband and his wife to You. Lord, You see the turmoil in this home, the nightly yelling, the cursing, the paranoia, the constant tension and the exhaustion. We ask You to pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding upon this wife, calm her anxious and angry heart, heal the stress that is harming her health, and deliver her from fear and suspicion. Help her to control her tongue and her temper and to speak with grace and respect. Lord, give this husband supernatural patience, wisdom, strength, and a gentle spirit to love his wife as Christ loves the church, to not return harshness for harshness, but to be an example of steady, faithful, transparent love. Restore trust between them, teach them to communicate honestly and to listen to one another, and draw them both closer to You. Lead them to godly counsel and to help for her health, and let their marriage be a testimony of Your restoring power. We pray that both of them will seek You first and know Jesus as their Savior and Lord, for it is in His name we have hope. Amen.
