My brother - his role in helping old mother

Natasha 2

Beloved of All
Please pray for my brother to be relaxed and have a good sleep today because our mother ended up in a hospital and he is dealing with doctors and we will try to find a good place for her to recover since she cannot walk suddenly, maybe it was a stroke. Please pray for HER MIRACOLOUS RECOVERY and fir my brother to be sharp, full of energy and optimistic and making wise decisions and to be good and kind to me since we often have disagreements and he is very firm and not exactly forgiving. He is inclined to insult me directly or indirectly and now he doesnt want to drive me to my mom to the hospital (i dont have a car) because he holds grudges against me...it is possible that my mom got stroke because she cannot endure that we have constant dissagreements.

We hear your burden and we are lifting you, your brother and your dear mother before the Lord together. To see a mother suddenly unable to walk and taken to the hospital, perhaps with a stroke, brings great fear and sorrow, and we understand how heavy this is while you and your brother are trying to make wise decisions about her care and recovery.

We pray for your mother's miraculous recovery. We know the Lord is our healer and that He has compassion on the weak and suffering. As it is written, Bless Yahweh, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3, and But I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. We ask God to lay His healing hand upon her, to restore what has been taken, to give skill and wisdom to the doctors and to guide you both to a good and safe place for her to recover. We also pray that the fear and uncertainty would be met with the peace that passes understanding, for in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

We also bring your brother before the Lord. We pray that God will grant him deep and restful sleep, for He gives sleep to his beloved Psalm 127:2, and that He will renew his strength and clear his mind. We ask that the Lord will make him sharp, full of energy and optimistic, not in his own strength but in the Lord's, and that he will be given wisdom from above for every decision he must make about your mother's care. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. We pray he will seek that wisdom in humility and prayer rather than in his own firmness.

We must also speak lovingly and truthfully about the strife between you. What you describe grieves us because it does not reflect God's will for family. Your brother holding grudges, insulting you directly or indirectly, refusing to help you see your mother, and being unforgiving is contrary to Scripture. We are commanded, Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:31-32, and Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive whoever offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others Colossians 3:13. If we do not forgive others, our Father will not forgive us Matthew 6:14-15. We rebuke the spirit of unforgiveness and insult, and we pray your brother will repent of it and choose kindness, even when he feels justified in his anger.

At the same time we encourage you to examine your own heart before the Lord as well. You mentioned constant disagreements and wondering if your strife contributed to your mother's stroke. While stress can weigh heavily on a parent's heart, we urge you not to carry a false burden of guilt that God has not placed on you, yet also to take seriously God's call to pursue peace. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. We are called to honor our mother, Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you Exodus 20:12, and part of honoring her now is to not add to her burden by continuing in discord, but to show her a united, loving family that seeks her good together. Bearing with one another in love and carrying each other's burdens fulfills the law of Christ Galatians 6:2. This is a time for you both to lay down pride, to speak with gentleness, to forgive quickly, and to seek reconciliation.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and brought near to God Romans 10:9. We pray this in His name and we encourage you to bring every need to God through Jesus alone.

So we pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We lift this precious mother to You, touch her body, restore her ability to walk, heal what was damaged by this stroke, comfort her in the hospital and give her peace. Guide the doctors and guide her children to the right place for her recovery. We lift this brother to You, grant him tonight a deep, relaxed and restoring sleep, renew his energy, make his mind sharp and clear, fill him with a godly optimism and with Your wisdom for every decision. Soften his heart, remove bitterness and grudges, take away insulting words and give him a tender, forgiving and kind spirit toward his sibling. Help them both to forgive as You have forgiven us, to speak to one another with love and respect, and to make a way for his sister to be with her mother. Convict where there is pride and heal where there is hurt, and let this trial bring unity rather than further division. And Lord, draw this family closer to Jesus, that they may know Your salvation and Your peace. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray for your brother rather than only about him, to bless him even when he insults you, to gently and humbly ask for forgiveness where you have contributed to the disagreements, and to seek a calm time to talk with him about how you can honor your mother together. Love covers a multitude of sins 1 Peter 4:8. Keep trusting the Lord for your mother's healing and for your brother's heart, and keep seeking the Lord's will together in Jesus' name.

We were moved reading your request. Watching your mother suddenly unable to walk and now in the hospital is frightening, and carrying that worry while you and your brother are strained with each other makes it even heavier. We are praying with you.

We hear how much you want your brother to get real rest today and to have clarity for the decisions ahead. Caregiving in a crisis is exhausting, and when someone is running on little sleep and a lot of pressure with doctors, he can become sharp and short. That does not excuse unkind words, and we are sorry you have felt insulted and left without a ride.

It is also understandable to wonder if your disagreements caused your mother's illness. Please try not to carry that blame. A sudden change like this needs careful medical evaluation, and her doctors are the best ones to guide what comes next for recovery and rehab. We encourage you to stay close to them and ask about support services the hospital may offer for next steps.

For today one gentle step may help you both. If your brother needs space to sleep, could you arrange another way to the hospital just for now, perhaps a trusted friend, church member, or local ride service, and let him know you appreciate how much he is juggling with the doctors. A short kind note can keep the door open without pressing for a long talk while you are both tired.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this dear mother to You and ask for Your mercy and healing according to Your will, and for wisdom for her doctors. Give her son deep sleep, renewed energy and clear thinking, and give these siblings grace and kindness toward each other in this hard week. Amen.

Your request has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with you in this time of heavy care.

We will pray for your dear mother in her sudden affliction, that the Lord who is full of compassion would lay His healing hand upon her. There is healing virtue in Christ, not only in His great works but in the very leaves of that tree of life, and He is able to restore and to comfort as seems good to His infinite wisdom. We ask that He would grant skill to the physicians, a suitable place for her recovery, and above all that His gracious presence would be near to her in the hospital ward. We pray for a recovery that displays His mercy, and for peace to rest upon her heart.

We will pray also for your brother, who bears a great weight in dealing with doctors and decisions. We ask the Lord to give him refreshing sleep this day, to renew his strength, to make him sharp in mind and wise in counsel, and to keep him in quiet optimism under pressure. The Lord knows how weariness can make the spirit firm and the temper quick, and we ask that He would sustain your brother in body and in mind.

You have spoken honestly of the disagreements between you, of harsh words and grudges, and of his unwillingness even to drive you to see your mother. This is a sorrow upon a sorrow, and it calls you both to that forgiveness which is with God and which must be among brethren. Scripture says, There is forgiveness with Thee, and it also says, Even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. The forgiveness we have received in Christ is not a partial or conditional pardon, but a complete and eternal forgiveness, the record of debt nailed to the Cross. Having received such mercy, we are called to a joint work of mutual forgiveness, forgiving one another freely as we have been forgiven.

Do not let your heart be crushed with the thought that your strife caused your mother's stroke. Such afflictions come in a world of sickness and frailty, and while the Lord calls us to pursue peace, He does not lay upon you a burden of guilt that belongs to providence alone. Instead, let this trial be a call to seek reconciliation. If you have offended, confess it humbly. If you have been offended, release the debt as Christ has released yours. Go to your brother not with accusation but with gentleness and patience, overcoming evil with good, and ask the Lord to soften both your hearts.

Let us pray together:

O Heavenly Father, Thou with whom there is forgiveness, look in mercy upon this mother and her children. Forgive our many sins for the sake of Jesus Christ Thy Son, who died the Just for the unjust to bring us to God. Heal this mother according to Thy good will, ease her body and quiet her soul. Grant to her son restful sleep, energy for his duties, and wisdom for every decision he must make. Pour out upon this brother and sister a spirit of grace and forgiveness, that they may forgive as they have been forgiven, and speak to one another with kindness. Let Thy healing and Thy pardon come together in this home, for Thou art the God who first forgives and then heals. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour. Amen.

We encourage you to continue in prayer, to seek peace with your brother as far as it lies with you, and to trust the Lord both for your mother's care and for the mending of this breach between you.
