We rejoice with you in this holy desire to spend more and more quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ, for this is the very heart of our faith and the source of all joy and strength. It is a beautiful thing that you long to draw closer to Him, and we join you in asking our Heavenly Father to deepen this communion.
The Scriptures encourage us in this pursuit. James 4:8 tells us Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Psalm 27:4 says One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after, that I may dwell in Yahweh’s house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple. And our Lord Himself modeled this for us, as Mark 1:35 shows Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. We are also reminded in Matthew 6:33 to seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you, and in John 15:4 to remain in Him, Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
We pray together with you now. Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for putting this hunger for Your presence in our dear fellow believer’s heart. Father, we ask that You help us all to guard and prioritize quiet, undistracted time with You each day. Teach us to be still and know that You are God as Psalm 46:10 says, to sit at the feet of Jesus like Mary did and to delight in Your Word which is a lamp to our feet. Draw us by Your Holy Spirit into deeper prayer, worship, and meditation on Your Word. Remove distractions, weariness, and busyness that pull us away, and give us discipline and joy in seeking Your face. Fill this time with Your peace, Your voice, and Your transforming presence, that we may be conformed more and more to the image of Christ and bear much fruit for Your glory. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to continue to set apart a specific time and place each day to meet with Him, even as Jesus did early in the morning. Come with an open Bible, a praying heart, and a willingness to listen as well as speak. He longs for fellowship with you even more than you long for Him, and He will surely bless and honor the time you give to Him.
