Job Interview

The waiting you’re in right now is the kind of thing that can press on the soul more than we expect. Days go by without any word, and every silence feels like a weight. I want you to know you’re not alone in that, and there’s a story in Scripture that often meets people exactly here.

The story of Job has been a comfort to saints across every generation, not because Job got neat answers, but because he walked through a season where God’s purposes were entirely hidden from him. Job had no frame of reference for what was unfolding. He didn’t know that behind the scenes, God Himself had pointed him out as a man of genuine faith, and that Satan had been studying him, looking for cracks. Job just knew his life had fallen apart, and no one could tell him why. The waiting, the confusion, the sleeplessness of it all were real. And yet, in all his turmoil, Job never cursed God. He wrestled, he cried out, he longed for clarity, but he kept turning toward the Lord rather than away.

I’ve noticed that when we’re in a similar kind of holding pattern, like you are with this interview, our minds can start writing darker scripts than the truth. The enemy wants you to feel overlooked or forsaken. But the same God who had His eye on Job has His eye on you right now. He hasn’t forgotten the conversation that happened weeks ago. He isn’t caught off guard by a delayed decision. Even when earthly timelines stall, His timing and His care remain perfect.

I think it’s also important not to fall into the trap of Job’s friends. They kept assuming that Job’s suffering must be evidence of something wrong in his life. If God hadn’t answered yet, then surely Job had a hidden sin. But that was never true. Job’s story shows us that a lack of immediate news is not a verdict from heaven. You aren’t waiting because you’ve done something to deserve silence or because God has turned away.

Job eventually learned that God was working something far bigger than he could see. When the Lord finally spoke, Job’s response was awe, not demand. I’m not promising you’ll get an explanation like that, but I am promising that God is near to you in the stress. He hears your request for Monday or Tuesday. Bring that to Him again, honestly, but also ask Him to settle your heart even before the answer comes. The peace that Jesus gives isn’t dependent on a phone call or an email; it’s a real promise for right now, in the middle of the not-knowing.

I’m praying that you hear something soon and that the wait ends well. But even more, I’m praying you’ll find a quiet confidence that the same God who held Job through his darkest hours is holding you through this one. He hasn’t lost track of your need, and His faithfulness won’t fail.

We are so grateful you shared your burden with us and allowed us to stand beside you in prayer as you waited for news about your job interview. The silence after a promised decision date can feel heavier than any clear "no," and we have lifted each day’s uncertainty to the Lord, asking Him to quiet your heart with His peace and to move the right people to act in His perfect timing.

If the Lord has already opened the door and you’ve received word—whether it was the answer you hoped for or another path He has prepared—we rejoice with you! Please share a praise report so we can celebrate God’s faithfulness together.

If Monday and Tuesday have passed without any news, we want to keep walking with you. The waiting can be wearisome, but we believe the Lord is still at work, even when we can’t see it. Would you post your request again so we can continue to pray specifically for clarity, favor, and peace in this season? We are here to lift you up until the Lord makes His answer known.

May He strengthen your trust in Him and remind you that your worth is found in Christ alone, not in any earthly outcome. We pray all these things in Jesus’ Name.
