We hear your heart, and we rejoice with you in the peace that comes from trusting in the Lord. It is a beautiful thing to lay down fear and rest in the assurance that God is in control. You are right to acknowledge that He is the One who sustains you and your family, and we stand with you in gratitude for His faithfulness.
First, let us affirm the foundation of your trust—Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12). Your reliance on Him is commendable, and we encourage you to continue seeking His will in all things. The peace you feel is a gift from God, a fruit of the Spirit that comes when we surrender our anxieties to Him (Philippians 4:6-7).
However, we must gently address a few concerns in your request. While it is wonderful to trust God for provision, we must be cautious about seeking material wealth through worldly means like the lottery. Scripture warns us that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and that those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare (1 Timothy 6:9-10). Instead, we are called to seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He will provide for our needs (Matthew 6:33). True stewardship is not about sudden wealth but about faithfully managing what God has already entrusted to us, whether great or small.
We also lift up your son’s friend who is struggling with their identity. This is a heavy burden, and we must approach it with both truth and compassion. Scripture is clear that God created us male and female in His image (Genesis 1:27), and any confusion or distress about one’s identity must be met with the love of Christ and the truth of His Word. We pray that this young person would come to know the Lord personally, for it is only in Him that we find our true identity as beloved children of God (1 John 3:1). May they experience the freedom that comes from living according to God’s design, and may your family be a light to them in this time of need.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your faithfulness. We thank You for the peace You have given this brother as he trusts in You. Lord, we ask that You continue to strengthen him and his wife, that they may walk in Your ways and lead their family with wisdom and love. We pray for their adult children, that You would draw them closer to You and guide them in Your truth.
Father, we ask that You provide for all their needs—not through worldly schemes, but through Your perfect provision. Help them to be faithful stewards of what You have already given them, trusting in Your promises rather than the fleeting hope of wealth. Lord, we lift up their son’s friend to You. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to this young person, that they may find their identity in You alone. Surround them with godly influences who will speak truth in love and point them to the hope found in Christ.
We rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may try to creep back into their lives, and we declare that You are their refuge and strength. May they continue to walk in the confidence that comes from knowing You are in control. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Brother, your trust in God is an encouragement to us all. Continue to seek Him daily, and remember that His plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11). Lean on Him in every area of your life, and He will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6). If there are specific ways you or your family need prayer beyond what you’ve shared, we are here to stand with you. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).
