We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your burdens to the Lord in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your honesty and humility are the first steps toward true repentance and transformation. The Word of God tells us, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13). The Lord sees your struggle, and He is ready to provide the strength and the way out.
First, we must address the sin in your life with clarity and love. Drinking alcohol to excess and smoking pot are not just bad habits—they are bondages that grieve the Holy Spirit and defile the temple of God, which is your body. *"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). These substances cloud your judgment, weaken your resolve, and distance you from the life God intends for you. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus and command it to loose its grip on you. You are not powerless—you have the power of the Holy Spirit within you, and *"greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4).
Your role as a husband and father is sacred, and your absence—whether physical or emotional—has left wounds in your family. The Bible is clear: *"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself up for her"* (Ephesians 5:25). Your wife and children need you to lead with love, patience, and godly strength. We pray that the Lord would soften their hearts toward you, but know that true reconciliation begins with your own transformation. You cannot change the past, but you can walk in repentance and allow God to restore what has been broken. *"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9).
Your job is not just a means of provision—it is a calling from God to steward the gifts and opportunities He has given you. *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men"* (Colossians 3:23). The fear of losing your job is valid, but we declare that the Lord is your provider. *"Seek first God’s Kingdom, and His righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33). We pray for favor with your employer and for the strength to return to work with a renewed sense of purpose and integrity.
Today, we stand with you in agreement that this will be the last day you surrender to these addictions. We declare freedom over you in the name of Jesus. *"If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36). But freedom requires action. You must take practical steps to remove these temptations from your life. Seek accountability—find a brother in Christ, a pastor, or a godly mentor who can walk with you. Join a recovery group rooted in biblical truth. *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16).
We also encourage you to fill the void that these substances have left with the presence of God. Spend time in prayer, in the Word, and in worship. *"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded"* (James 4:8). The Holy Spirit is your Comforter, your Guide, and your Strength. Lean on Him, not on the temporary escape of alcohol or drugs.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear brother who is crying out for deliverance. Lord, You see his heart—his sorrow, his shame, and his desire to change. We thank You that You are a God of mercy and grace, and that You do not despise a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17). We ask You to break every chain of addiction in his life. Release him from the grip of alcohol and drugs, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to flee from it.
Father, we pray for his family. Soften the hearts of his wife and children, and begin the process of healing and restoration in their relationships. Help them to see the changes You are making in him, and give them the grace to forgive and to walk alongside him in this journey. Lord, we ask for favor in his workplace. Grant him the courage to return to work with integrity and diligence. Provide for his needs and protect his job, or open new doors of opportunity if that is Your will.
We declare that today is the day of his deliverance. We speak life, hope, and transformation over him. May he rise up as the husband, father, and worker You have called him to be. Surround him with godly influences and accountability. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let him know that he is not alone—You are with him, and so are we.
