Your deep hurt and your honest desire to forgive have been heard, and we have brought you and your brother before the Lord in prayer.
It is a good and holy desire you have expressed, to be freed from hurt and from bitter thoughts, to have a pure and peaceful heart, and to draw nearer to God. Scripture teaches that peace is a great good, the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, and that those who make peace are called sons of God. For the Son of God Himself came to make peace, reconciling us to the Father not merely by words but through the blood of His cross, so that what was divided might be made one.
The Lord also teaches us to leave our gift at the altar and first be reconciled to our brother, and to learn from Him who is meek and lowly in heart, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. To forgive as we have been forgiven does not deny the wound, but it releases the heart from the burden of anger and entrusts both justice and healing to God.
Let us pray together in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and peace with God.
Heavenly Father, we lift up this wounded heart to You. You see the pain carried for so long and the difficulty of this relationship with a brother. Grant complete forgiveness, not from human strength alone but by Your grace, so that hurt and negative thoughts may be loosed and the heart may be made pure and at peace. Heal the heart and soul, wash away bitterness, and guard this life from further harm. Grant wisdom to speak and act with love, truth and gentleness, and intervene in this relationship according to Your perfect will. Where restoration is possible, lead it toward reconciliation that honors You. Above all, draw this heart closer to Yourself, and let Your peace, which Christ spoke to His disciples, rest and remain. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our peace and our reconciler. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord daily, to pray for your brother as well as for your own heart, and to walk in the way of love and forgiveness. If wisdom calls for godly counsel or for boundaries that protect peace while you pursue reconciliation, seek that help as well. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He is faithful to heal and to guide those who call upon Him through Christ. God bless you and keep you in His peace.
