We join with you in this season of weariness and worry as you recover from your heart attack and face further medical procedures, and we bring your need for confidence, courage and patience before the Lord together in Jesus' name.
We hear how weary you are, and the Lord sees it too. He does not grow tired of your prayers and He invites you to bring every anxious thought to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Also 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you. Your anxiety does not push Him away, it is an invitation to draw nearer to Him.
We also take comfort that you cried out Help me, Lord, and we want to gently remind you that it is through Jesus Christ alone that we have access to the Father and confidence to approach His throne. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by trusting in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly asking for help, healing and peace. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Him as Lord and Savior.
The Lord is your strength when your heart is weary and your body is weak. Isaiah 40:29 says, He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. And Matthew 11:28 says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble from Psalm 46:1. For courage, we cling to Joshua 1:9, Haven't I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go. And Isaiah 41:10, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. For patience in this long recovery, James 1:3-4 teaches us, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up our dear one to You. You know the trauma of this heart attack, the weariness of recovery, and the fear of what lies ahead with these medical procedures. Lord, we ask for Your healing hand upon this heart and body, for wisdom and steady hands for every doctor and nurse, and for Your perfect peace to guard this heart and mind. Replace worry with confidence in Your presence, fear with courage that comes from knowing You will never leave nor forsake us, and impatience with quiet endurance as You work. When strength fails, be strength. When anxiety rises, be our calm. Help us to rest in Your love and to trust Your good will, even in uncertainty. We ask that You make Your presence deeply known and that You grant sleep, comfort, and hope each day. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, our healer and our peace, amen.
We encourage you to keep bringing every fear to Him in simple, honest prayer throughout the day, to rest as much as your body allows, and to let others help you as the Lord provides through them. Meditate on His promises day and night, and if possible share your concerns with your medical team and with trusted believers who can walk with you. The Lord is near to you in this hospital room and in this recovery, and He will carry you through each step.
