Bible Verse for Today

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth.

—2 Thessalonians 1:3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

When was the last time you found a new brother or sister in Christ and told that precious person everything they were doing right? Don't you think that's too long? Shouldn't you let them know our joy and approval today? Let's be more committed...

I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day.

—2 Timothy 1:3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Paul is near the end of his life, feeling very alone and facing persecution in a horrible prison. Many of the young men he mentored had left the faith or turned against him. How can Paul give thanks? He speaks of his confidence in his own victorious future with Jesus (2 Timothy 4:6-8)...

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

—Romans 8:37 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Are we really conquerors despite "trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword"? (Romans 8:35) Yes! That is the Father's ultimate assurance to us through Christ Jesus and the indwelling Holy Spirit. Nothing can separate us from God's love in Christ. The Evil One and his allies can kill our bodies, ruin our...

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

—2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

What do you smell like today? Is that question too personal? Not to God! Paul says we are warriors returning from conquest with the smell of victory incense permeating our presence. To those who see us and know us, this aroma points them to God and his victory for us over death, sin...

For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring.

—Isaiah 44:3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Growing up in West Texas in part of my early years, I certainly know what "thirsty land" truly is. The black dirt shrinks, leaving deep fissures in the ground. All the grass turns yellow, then brown, and then dies. A wisp of breeze stirs swirls of dust over the barren land...

God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

—Job 37:5 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

How does God help us know his will? Clearly, God has given us the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit to help us understand those Scriptures. What about more subtle and less defined ways? Most of us have had a "cluster of divine coincidences" — what I call "Godincedences." Many of us have had several events in close proximity to prayer asking...

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

—Proverbs 10:7 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Each of us is creating a legacy. The influence of our lives will leave an imprint on all those the LORD has brought into our lives for us to touch and influence. Today's proverb reminds us that our legacy will live far beyond physical bodies, and we must strategically consider how that legacy may impact future generations. If our lives are righteous, that...

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

—Titus 2:13 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

One way to view our lives is to see them as a wait. However, a long wait without anticipation is frustrating and sometimes fosters bitter anger for what appears to be wasted time. Long or short, as followers of Jesus, we live and wait with anticipation. Our waiting has us on tiptoe, looking forward to the coming of our "blessed...

Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

—Acts 15:35 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Antioch was a great church in the first century. God blessed this church with both Jewish and Gentile disciples who were very talented. These disciples were the first followers of Jesus in the New Testament who were called Christians. Many of these new Christians taught and evangelized others in their community and the...

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

—James 1:12 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

I don't know about you, but it is hard for me to appreciate our need to go through trials. Trials in life are hard to tolerate and endure! This is especially true when we are in the middle of them and see no end in sight. But as believers in Jesus, we have vital spiritual...
