Bible Verse for Today

Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

—2 Corinthians 9:11 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

As we examine our blessings and thank God for his wonderful grace, let's ask why God has blessed us so much. Let's also remember the primary spiritual principle God made clear in today's Scripture and his call to Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3). God blesses his people so that they will be a blessing to others. Let's make sure we are...

Rejoice evermore.

—1 Thessalonians 5:16 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Now wait just a minute. I have some pretty sorry days! Things don't always go well for me! Some of my friends have abandoned and betrayed me in my worst moments. How can I be joyful, ALWAYS? The Father reminds me:

"It's simply, my child, understand that joy is more than always feeling happy. Instead, joy is a deep abiding sense of my grace and living for my purposes. No matter where you are and no...

O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

—Psalm 90:14 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

What's the secret of having a good day? How about waking up and recognizing that we begin each day just as we ended the previous one — we are in the gracious grip of God's unfailing love. That should make our hearts stir with love, and our voices sing joyfully. This song should stir God's Spirit within us and lead us to a deep and profound...

To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

—Romans 16:27 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

All other gods are false, anemic, and dim shadows of the one true and living God. Only El Shaddai, the LORD God Almighty, Yahweh God of the Covenant, deserves our praise. We praise him for his gift of Jesus to atone for our sins, his gift of mercy to perfect our failings, his gift of patience to help us straighten out our inconsistencies, and ultimately, we praise...

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

—2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

When was the last time you thought of yourself as "the righteousness of God"? What does that mean anyway? It means that we have the best of qualities found in the best of beings; God himself! Even though we were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), we know we are not fully god-like! We know our...

But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.

—Psalm 68:3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Let's join our hearts today; tens of thousands of us joined together! (Over ### share our devotionals daily, so imagine this large chorus rejoicing in praise!) Let's pray for God to make us truly joyful and happy people who live righteously to his glory. We want our joy to be as unshakeable as our God. We want the faith that brings us...

Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

—Psalm 97:12 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Joy! Rejoicing! Excited praise. Joyous songs. When we think about the glory of God and the grace that he has shared with us in Jesus to make us righteous, how can we not rejoice? God is gloriously holy and majestic. He is wondrously eternal and just. We, on the other hand, are flawed, mortal, limited, and sinful. Yet in his rich mercy, he has...

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

—2 Timothy 1:12 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

As Paul faced extremely challenging circumstances near the end of his life, many he had led to the LORD had abandoned him. Nevertheless, he was confident that the LORD would not abandon him! He had committed his life to...

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

—Philippians 1:20 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Do you have long-term spiritual goals that align your daily behaviors with your faith? Paul certainly had at least these two: "I don't want to be ashamed but courageous" and "I want Christ to be exalted in my body, by...

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

—Romans 15:1 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Dear friend of Jesus, have patience with those around you who are not yet what God intends for them to be — remembering that you are not yet all that God intends for you to be. As you "bear with" their "failings", you may find that others are patient with your failings and are more thankful for your faithfulness than you...
