Bible Verse for Today

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

—Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

As we enter the month, often associated with giving thanks and sharing our resources with others on Giving Tuesday, this reminder from Moses is an important one! We so easily forget to give thanks when things are going well. It's easy for us...

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

—Luke 11:10 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God answers prayers! Recent research into patients recovering from surgery for whom others prayed validates this truth. Our experience suggests it is true. The Bible promises us that it is so. Luke emphasized one specific answer to prayer that God-seekers receive. God longs to give us a truly remarkable and wonderful...

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

—1 John 1:9 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God is faithful! Scripture declares it. Jesus' life demonstrates it. We've experienced it. We cherish this promise of forgiveness and purification from God, especially when things don't turn out as they should. So when Satan does trip us with temptation, or when we are weak or rebellious, isn't it comforting that we...

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

—Exodus 20:2-3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

The order of faithful obedience is always the same in Scripture: God reveals himself to us, blesses us with his grace, and then asks us to respond with obedience. In other words, God blesses us first and then asks us to obey — grace precedes the call to obedience! God is all-powerful and...

But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

—2 Thessalonians 3:3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

The Bible repeatedly reminds us that we are in a spiritual war with strong and malicious forces that are spiritually and morally evil (Ephesians 6:10-12). We should steer clear of any appearance of evil. We shouldn't involve ourselves in anything related to Satan and his work. We also need to remember that our LORD is greater than Satan and all of...

And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch, Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

—Acts 14:21-22 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Do you know a new Christian? Do you have friendships with new believers? Peter, Paul, and Barnabas remind us that becoming a Christian can be...

O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

—Psalm 96:9 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Don't you appreciate the phrase "the splendor of his holiness"! Don't you long to behold that splendor? It conjures up reminders of Isaiah's encounter with God in Isaiah 6 or John's vision of Jesus in Revelation 1. God's essence — known in the Old Testament as his holy and majestic glory — can be described only as splendorous! Our fitting response...

Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

—Psalm 21:13 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

What is our role in the grand scheme of things? In Psalm 21, the Spirit emphasizes our importance as God's cheerleaders and worshipers. We ask God to reveal himself in his glory. We urge God to make his strength known to all people. We marvel in amazement at the almighty God's deeds. We praise our heavenly Father for the incredible things he has...

Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

—1 Peter 2:12 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

How do we win the hearts of those hostile to us and our faith? How do we influence them to follow Jesus? While we need skilled defenders and expositors of biblical truth among believers today, most of us will win others to Jesus by how...

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry.

—1 Timothy 1:12 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

We minister by grace. We are saved and made holy by God's grace given us by Jesus. We are declared righteous and blameless before God because of the grace of Jesus. We are given spiritual gifts to use in ministry for the Church because of the grace of Jesus. We are given strength from the Holy Spirit to...
