We hear the deep burden in your heart, and we lift it before the Lord with compassion. The weight of uncertainty about the future, the struggles of caring for your grandfather, and the feeling of having no safe place to turn are heavy indeed. But we want you to know that God sees you, He hears you, and He is your refuge in this storm. The Bible tells us in Psalm 55:22, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." You are not alone, even when it feels that way.
First, we must address the reality of your grandfather’s condition and lifestyle. His alcoholism and the toll it has taken on his health are heartbreaking, and it grieves us to see someone trapped in bondage to sin. Proverbs 23:29-32 warns, "Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper." His choices have led to destruction, but we must also remember that God’s heart is for redemption. We pray for his soul, that the Lord would break the chains of addiction and draw him to repentance. Even in his current state, we ask that God would grant him mercy and grace, and that He would open doors for you to find help and support in caring for him.
The condition of the home is another heavy concern. A crumbling house with leaks is not just a physical problem, it’s a symbol of the brokenness in this situation. But we serve a God who rebuilds what is broken. In Isaiah 61:4, the Lord promises, "They shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations." We pray that God would provide a way for the home to be repaired or, if necessary, that He would lead you to a safe and stable place to live. You are not meant to live in instability, and we trust that God has a plan for your provision.
Your mention of feeling homeless and having no support from your aunt is deeply painful. It’s clear that you long for family, for belonging, and for safety. But we want to remind you that your identity is not found in your circumstances or even in your family, it is found in Christ. Ephesians 1:5 tells us that God "predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his desire." You are a child of the King, and He will never abandon you. We also encourage you to seek out a local church community. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and you need people who will walk alongside you in this season. If you’re not already connected to a church, we urge you to find one where you can be supported, encouraged, and prayed for.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is carrying so much. Lord, You see the weight of worry, the fear of the future, and the exhaustion of caring for a loved one who is lost in sin and suffering. We ask that You would be their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Father, we pray for their grandfather, that You would break the chains of alcoholism, soften his heart, and draw him to repentance. If it is Your will, restore his health and mind, but above all, save his soul.
Lord, we ask for provision for this home. If it is Your will for them to remain there, provide the resources to repair it. If not, open the door to a safe and stable place where they can live without fear. We pray against the spirit of hopelessness that whispers there is no way out. You are the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way (Isaiah 43:19), and we trust You to lead them into Your perfect plan.
Father, we also ask that You would surround them with Your people. Bring believers into their life who will love, support, and encourage them. Help them to find a church family where they can grow in faith and find practical help. Lord, remind them that they are not alone, You are with them, and You will never leave them nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5).
We rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell them they are forgotten or abandoned. We declare that they are seen, known, and deeply loved by You. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Guide their steps, provide for their needs, and lead them into the abundant life You have promised.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We also want to gently address something important in your request. You did not mention Jesus or pray in His name, and we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" Salvation is found in no one else (Acts 4:12), and it is by grace through faith in Jesus that we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life to Christ, repent of your sins, and trust in Him as your Lord and Savior. He is the only one who can give you true hope, peace, and a future.
In the meantime, we urge you to take practical steps as well. Reach out to local churches, Christian organizations, or even government assistance programs that may be able to help with housing, healthcare, or other needs. You do not have to navigate this alone. The Lord often works through His people to provide for His children, and we believe He will make a way for you.
Lastly, we want to encourage you with these words from Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,' says Yahweh, 'thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.'" God has not forgotten you. He has a plan for you, and He will see you through this season. Keep your eyes on Him, trust in His promises, and lean on His strength. You are not without hope.
