Beloved of All
I'm worries about the future . At ### I live with my grandpa . The house is crumbling. When it rains it leaks inside the kitchen and his room. I'm worried he's getting older and more tired and he has no brain function. He's literally a vegetable. He's an alcoholic and spends most his time at the bar Tuesday thru Sunday spending 8+ hours a night . I feel like there's no way out. Besides living with him I habs no where to go . I'm basically homeless. My aunt is not friendly with me. She's not a believer. I have nothing

We hear the deep burden in your heart, and we lift it before the Lord with compassion. The weight of uncertainty about the future, the struggles of caring for your grandfather, and the feeling of having no safe place to turn are heavy indeed. But we want you to know that God sees you, He hears you, and He is your refuge in this storm. The Bible tells us in Psalm 55:22, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." You are not alone, even when it feels that way.

First, we must address the reality of your grandfather’s condition and lifestyle. His alcoholism and the toll it has taken on his health are heartbreaking, and it grieves us to see someone trapped in bondage to sin. Proverbs 23:29-32 warns, "Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper." His choices have led to destruction, but we must also remember that God’s heart is for redemption. We pray for his soul, that the Lord would break the chains of addiction and draw him to repentance. Even in his current state, we ask that God would grant him mercy and grace, and that He would open doors for you to find help and support in caring for him.

The condition of the home is another heavy concern. A crumbling house with leaks is not just a physical problem, it’s a symbol of the brokenness in this situation. But we serve a God who rebuilds what is broken. In Isaiah 61:4, the Lord promises, "They shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations." We pray that God would provide a way for the home to be repaired or, if necessary, that He would lead you to a safe and stable place to live. You are not meant to live in instability, and we trust that God has a plan for your provision.

Your mention of feeling homeless and having no support from your aunt is deeply painful. It’s clear that you long for family, for belonging, and for safety. But we want to remind you that your identity is not found in your circumstances or even in your family, it is found in Christ. Ephesians 1:5 tells us that God "predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his desire." You are a child of the King, and He will never abandon you. We also encourage you to seek out a local church community. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and you need people who will walk alongside you in this season. If you’re not already connected to a church, we urge you to find one where you can be supported, encouraged, and prayed for.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is carrying so much. Lord, You see the weight of worry, the fear of the future, and the exhaustion of caring for a loved one who is lost in sin and suffering. We ask that You would be their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Father, we pray for their grandfather, that You would break the chains of alcoholism, soften his heart, and draw him to repentance. If it is Your will, restore his health and mind, but above all, save his soul.

Lord, we ask for provision for this home. If it is Your will for them to remain there, provide the resources to repair it. If not, open the door to a safe and stable place where they can live without fear. We pray against the spirit of hopelessness that whispers there is no way out. You are the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way (Isaiah 43:19), and we trust You to lead them into Your perfect plan.

Father, we also ask that You would surround them with Your people. Bring believers into their life who will love, support, and encourage them. Help them to find a church family where they can grow in faith and find practical help. Lord, remind them that they are not alone, You are with them, and You will never leave them nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5).

We rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell them they are forgotten or abandoned. We declare that they are seen, known, and deeply loved by You. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Guide their steps, provide for their needs, and lead them into the abundant life You have promised.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We also want to gently address something important in your request. You did not mention Jesus or pray in His name, and we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" Salvation is found in no one else (Acts 4:12), and it is by grace through faith in Jesus that we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life to Christ, repent of your sins, and trust in Him as your Lord and Savior. He is the only one who can give you true hope, peace, and a future.

In the meantime, we urge you to take practical steps as well. Reach out to local churches, Christian organizations, or even government assistance programs that may be able to help with housing, healthcare, or other needs. You do not have to navigate this alone. The Lord often works through His people to provide for His children, and we believe He will make a way for you.

Lastly, we want to encourage you with these words from Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,' says Yahweh, 'thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.'" God has not forgotten you. He has a plan for you, and He will see you through this season. Keep your eyes on Him, trust in His promises, and lean on His strength. You are not without hope.

We hear the heaviness in your words, and it makes sense that you feel trapped and worried about the future. When the roof leaks, the person you live with is struggling, and there seems to be no other door, the weight on your shoulders can feel crushing. That kind of daily uncertainty, not knowing if the house will hold up, or if your grandpa will be safe, would wear anyone down.

Sometimes feeling stuck convinces us we have to go it alone, but God has always placed His people in communities where others can step in. Even when family isn’t a safe place, the church body can be. We want to gently encourage you to reach out to a local pastor or church office and simply tell them what you told us. Many congregations have deacons or benevolence teams who can help with practical needs like temporary housing, home repairs, or connecting you with resources for your grandpa’s alcoholism. You don’t need to have a plan or polished words, just be honest about your situation.

If your grandpa’s drinking or his declining health ever puts you in immediate danger, please don’t hesitate to contact your local emergency services. In non-emergency moments, adult protective services can sometimes step in to assess an unsafe living environment, and a pastor can help you navigate that conversation. You were not meant to carry this alone, and admitting you need help is not weakness, it’s how God provides.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, you see this person’s isolation and fear. Shelter them under your wings right now. Provide a safe place to sleep, a compassionate believer to come alongside, and wisdom for the hard steps ahead. Protect them from harm and give them the courage to ask for help. In your name we pray, Amen.

The present gloom that gathers about your soul is a heavy trial, yet your own words reveal a hand that is none other than the Lord’s. The house you describe is a house of mourning indeed, and my soul is moved for you. But it is better to go to the house of mourning than to the house of feasting, and that house of feasting, the bar where your grandfather spends his nights, is the way of death, though it puts on a merry face. You are fretting over a crumbling roof and a mind enfeebled by strong drink, and you cry that you have nothing. But I would have you consider whether this very emptiness is the beginning of wisdom, for genuine humility makes a man think it a great honor to be a doorkeeper in the house of God, or even to be nothing at all, that Christ may be all.

You are troubled about the future, and you fear there is no way out. But the eternal God has promised that He will keep you from falling, and He will present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. Begin to thank Him for the grace you have not yet tasted. Is not faith at its best when it shoots up fragile like a lily, yet grows robust through the winter? The same Lord who sent a message to Hezekiah after his sin will send you a word of hope after your tears. You mention your aunt is not friendly and is an unbeliever. Remember that the very stone which the builders reject becomes the head of the corner. Once there was a man who raged against the Gospel in his home, and one by one his own children trusted Christ under his roof, until at last he was left alone with his anger, and grace triumphed. Let not your soul be stumbled by her unbelief, nor by the sight of your grandfather’s wretchedness; Christ is a stone of stumbling to those who refuse to believe, but to you who trust Him He is precious.

You feel as if you are keeping his vineyard while your own soul’s vineyard lies desolate. Heed this warning: your energies are being exhausted by worry more than by work. Is it not so? Poor child, you have been driving yourself to distraction over a man who spends his strength in riotous living, while your own heart has been neglected. Yet in the Father’s house there is bread enough and to spare. Arise, and go to Him. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, confess that even this bitter lot is less than your sins deserve, and cast yourself upon the mercy revealed in Jesus Christ. You are not homeless in the highest sense, for the man who dwells in the secret place of the Most High abides in the Holy of Holies. And that trembling you feel when you read these words, that very shaking of your soul, is the mark of a true worshipper, for to this man will the Lord look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at His word.

Yes, the house is crumbling, but the spiritual house built upon Christ stands sure. You are, if you believe, a lively stone in that temple, and God will not suffer any tempest to destroy it. Perhaps your present trial is the very fire-escape, strangely shaped, by which the Lord will deliver you from a greater ruin. Trust it, for it has saved thousands. And as for the future, cease from the mournful calculation of your own resources. You have nothing, so you say, but if you have Christ, you possess all things. Rise from the doormat of despair and take your place at the feast of grace. Let thanksgiving begin now, before the answer comes, for He who has kept you from a thousand unseen stumbles will guard you still. Commit your grandfather and your aunt to God in prayer, but fix your own eye upon the Cross. There is a “to-morrow” for the believer that is brighter than all the yesterdays combined, not because the bricks and mortar will be mended, but because faith will be stronger and Christ will be nearer. Amen.
