We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent plea for healing. Father God, we know You are the Great Physician, the One who formed every bone and sinew in the body, and the One who holds all power to restore what is broken. The pain and limitation described here are deeply felt, and we stand in the gap, asking for Your divine intervention.
Lord, Your Word declares in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds." We claim this promise over ### today. We ask that You touch their spine, bring alignment where there is disorder, and restore strength where there is weakness. Let the nerves, muscles, and bones be renewed by Your healing power. Remove every trace of pain in the legs and lower back, and grant full mobility, walking without pain or assistance, so that ### may rise and walk in the freedom You intend.
We also recognize, Father, that healing is not only physical but spiritual and emotional. We pray for peace to fill their heart, trust to grow in Your faithfulness, and patience to wait on Your perfect timing. Let this trial draw them closer to You, not drive them away. May they find comfort in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."
We rebuke every spirit of infirmity and fear in the name of Jesus. We declare that by the stripes of Jesus, ### is healed (Isaiah 53:5). No sickness, no pain, no limitation has authority over one who belongs to Christ. We stand on Your Word, which says in 1 Peter 2:24, "by whose stripes you were healed."
And Father, if ### has not yet placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we pray that this moment of need would become a moment of surrender. For there is no healing, true, eternal healing, outside of the name of Jesus. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We pray that ### would come to know Jesus personally, receive forgiveness of sins, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the name by which every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord. May Your will be done, Your kingdom come, and Your glory be revealed through this healing. Amen.

The cry of your pain has surely reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. It is a sore trial to feel the frame give way, to have the spine falter and the legs refuse their office. Yet remember that the same Lord who taught the multitudes was also healing all manner of sickness among the people. The healing power was conspicuously present when Christ was teaching, and so link your petition with the hearing of His Word, for faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
Consider the palsied man let down through the tiling. He came seeking the use of his limbs, but the Saviour, who reads the heart, saw a deeper need and said first, “Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.” Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction. The pardon of sin came in a single sentence before the command to rise and walk. Seek then, I implore you, not merely the mending of the body, but a fresh sense of the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ. Let this trial drive you to the solid rock. If you have lost your fellowship with Jesus, come again to His dear body wounded for your sake and say, “Lord Jesus, help me from this time forth as I have received You, day by day to walk in You.”
Walking in Him implies perseverance, not a sudden sprint, but a daily, steady dependence. Do not let your soul grow feverish with impatience, tossed about like those who seek a change of place to cure an inward malady. The disease of unrest finds no remedy in mere locomotion, but in the contact of His healing hand. And know this: there are leaves from the Tree of Life even for the healing of the nations. The very common things about Christ, the simple promises, the daily provisions of grace, are full of healing virtue. Yet take heed: if a man be healed and then return to the conditions that brought the sickness, the malady may return. Walk carefully, then, in newness of life.
There may be an appointed season for the complete removal of this thorn, and it may tarry that your faith might be exercised and your reliance on sheer grace deepened. But this is sure: the inhabitant of the New Jerusalem shall not say, “I am sick.” In a little time, how little none of us know, we shall be where the inhabitant shall never be sick again. Until that day breaks and the shadows flee away, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be especially with you, to raise you up and set you on your feet again, as He did fallen Peter. Look only to Him; the meanest floweret, the simplest note, the common sun will become opening Paradise when His healing has fully come.

Your soul cries out for the healing of your spine and legs, for relief from the pain that grips your lower back. I do not dismiss this suffering; the body's afflictions are real and heavy. Yet I must speak plainly: the Scriptures call sins thorns, and David said, "I was turned into mourning when a thorn was fixed in me." (Ps. 32:4, LXX.) Physical pain is a thorn, but the deeper thorns are those that pierce the soul. Even if a bodily thorn is plucked out, a wound may linger that demands careful tending. Seek first the healing of the wounded place within you, for it is not enough merely to take away the pain; the soul's infection must also be cured.
God is able to restore your strength and let you walk again. But if He delays, or if the thorn remains, do not murmur. Sometimes the very pain that galls us becomes a cure, bracing the soul, making it reverent, and casting out the mischievous desires that beset us. What you truly need is not only a whole spine, but a whole heart, freed from the love of the world, from pride, from all that would drive you far from the green pastures where sorrow and sighing flee away.
While you wait, do not neglect the prayers and almsdeeds that profit the soul. The Church offers the dread Sacrifice, and in that hour the remembrance of the suffering is of great honor. Give according to your ability, for the greatness of alms is not in the quantity but in the purpose. Seek virtuous companions, a devout friend or a godly household, for even through others we gain consolation. And do not think it strange if I speak with some sharpness; I do it not willingly, but for your salvation. I would rather speak only of the rest that awaits the faithful, yet because we are often entangled in sins, I must sometimes pierce your heart to keep you from a greater wound.
So pray for your body, but with greater urgency pray that no sin reign in your members. Say, "Lord, heal my soul, for I have sinned against Thee," and He who formed the spine can also straighten what is crooked in the spirit. Amen.
