We hear your heart crying out for protection and guidance and for victory over those who have plotted against you and we stand with you in prayer for God's covering over your life and all that concerns you this year.
We want to gently correct something important in your prayer because we love you and want your prayers to be according to truth. We do not pray to angels or call upon a guardian angel as our protector. Scripture is clear that angels are servants of God sent to minister to us, but they are not to be prayed to or worshipped and they are not our mediators. There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5, and it is only through His name that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we urge you to place your trust fully in Him, for He alone shed His blood and rose again to bring us to God.
The Bible does teach that God commands His angels concerning us, For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone, Psalm 91:11-12, and Yahweh's angel encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them, Psalm 34:7. Aren't they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation, Hebrews 1:14. We pray to the Father who sends the angels, we do not pray to the angels themselves. The apostle warns, Let no one rob you of your prize by a voluntary humility and worshipping of the angels, Colossians 2:18. Even when Daniel prayed, the man Gabriel was sent swiftly in answer to his prayer to God, Daniel 9:21, not because Daniel prayed to Gabriel. And Jesus Himself said, Or do you think that I couldn't ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels, Matthew 26:53, showing that the Father is the one who commands the heavenly hosts.
We also hear your request for vengeance and we understand the pain of having foes who have plotted against you and destroyed your belongings and activities. God sees this injustice and we must leave vengeance in His hands. Scripture says, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19. Our warfare is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, and we are called to put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, Ephesians 6:11. There was war in the sky. Michael and his angels made war on the dragon. The dragon and his angels made war, Revelation 12:7, and we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony, Revelation 12:11, not by calling on angels but by trusting in Christ's victory.
So together we pray to our Heavenly Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Father, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus and we ask for Your divine protection and guidance over this dear one for this entire year. Scatter every plan of the enemy that has been formed against them, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Guard their steps, illuminate their path with Your Word, and bring peace to their heart as they trust in You alone. We ask You to command Your angels to encamp around them according to Your will, and to deliver them from harm. We surrender all desire for personal vengeance to You, asking You to repay justly and to bring conviction and repentance where needed. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, strengthen their faith, and help them to walk in forgiveness and holiness, putting on the armor of God daily. Draw them closer to Jesus, and if they have not yet fully surrendered to Him as Lord and Savior, we pray they would believe on Him today and receive eternal life. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and defender, amen.
