Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We join with you in this desire for God given vision and we thank you for sharing this request with us in Jesus' name.

We love your heart to not simply follow your own personal goals but to seek what God has for you. That is a humble and wise posture. Proverbs 29:18 says Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. True vision is not just ambition or a personal plan, it is divine revelation that comes from God and keeps us anchored to His Word and His will. When we have His revelation we have direction, restraint, and purpose.

We also rejoice with you that our Father does not change. James 1:17 says Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. What a comfort that the God who gives vision is faithful to fulfill what He initiates for His glory.

We want to encourage you as you seek visions from God, to seek first His written Word and His will above any experience. God does still speak and lead, and Scripture promises Acts 2:17 It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Yet every vision, dream, or impression must be tested against Scripture and be consistent with His character. The primary way God gives us vision today is through His Word illuminated by the Holy Spirit, and through prayerful surrender. Romans 12:2 says Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. And Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

So we encourage you to continue to dwell in the Word daily, to pray for wisdom, and to ask God to align your desires with His. A vision from God will never contradict His Word and will always draw you closer to Christ and to obedience.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. We thank You that You are a God who reveals Yourself and Your purposes to Your people. In Jesus' name we ask that You pour out Your wisdom and revelation upon our dear fellow believer who seeks Your vision. Lord, remove any confusion, selfish ambition, or personal striving, and replace it with Your clear, holy direction. Lead them by Your Spirit and through Your Word, that they may discern Your good, well-pleasing and perfect will. Give them visions, dreams, and understanding as it pleases You, and grant them the discernment to test all things and hold fast to what is good. Fulfill the work You have begun in them, for every good and perfect gift comes from Your hand. Make their path straight as they trust in You with all their heart. We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our access to You, amen.

We are grateful you shared this desire so plainly. Wanting God's vision instead of just pushing your own plans forward shows a humble heart that wants to follow Him.

We have found that kind of vision often grows less like a sudden picture and more like a steady direction that forms as we walk with Him. It shapes our appetites and daily choices toward what He loves, not just toward what we imagined for ourselves. The fact that you are asking Him to lead is itself part of how He guides.

One simple practice that has helped many is to keep bringing both your hopes and your questions before Him regularly and with open hands. You might take time this week to write down the personal goals that are most on your mind, pray over each one honestly, and invite a trusted pastor or mature friend to pray and listen with you. Having another faithful voice alongside you can help you notice what is from God and what is just your own drive.

We are praying for you.

Father, we thank You for this hunger to hear from You. Give our friend clarity and a quiet confidence as they seek You, and shape their steps according to Your good will. Help them to know Your presence day by day and to walk in the way You have for them. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a gracious mark of the Spirit's work in you that you desire not to follow your own personal goals but to be led by the Lord. Where there is no vision the people indeed perish, and that vision is not a fleeting dream of our own imagination, but the revealed counsel and Word of God. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth and I can live upon it, but all the words out of man's mouth apart from Divine Inspiration must be as unsatisfying food.

Your prayer is heard, and we join with you in it. We do not ask for new revelations beyond what God has already given, for the Scriptures are invested with Divine authority and are sufficient, but we do ask that the Lord who has taught His people from their youth would continue to be your Teacher. As it is written, O God, You have taught me from my youth, and until this time have I declared Your wondrous works. He teaches His pupils by His Word, by His providence, and by the gracious work of His Spirit, opening our eyes to behold His wondrous works and to wonder at them.

Remember also that the great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. The whole was written from the beginning, He knew everything of it, He has never altered a single sentence nor changed a single line of the divine purpose. And this is the miracle of miracles, that while we are free and responsible, His purpose stands. Therefore we need not fear that His guidance will fail. He does not change like shifting shadows. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and what He purposes He will fulfil.

So we pray that you may be guided by the general directions given in God's Word, and by those great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God. For when self goes, God comes in, and when human wisdom goes, then God's Wisdom appears. It is written, You shall guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to Glory. There is no true glory for any man who takes his own course, but on earth there is no real glory unless we are guided by His counsel.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variableness. We thank You that Your purpose is infallible and Your counsel shall stand. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, whose blood cleanses from all sin, that You would grant to this Your servant not the vision of personal ambition, but true spiritual sight. Open the eyes of understanding to behold wondrous things out of Your law. Teach as only You can teach, and make Your Word plain. Grant acquiescence in Your Divine will, keep from haste and from self direction, and guide with Your counsel day by day. Fulfil in due time the vision You give according to Your perfect purpose, that Christ may be magnified and Your name praised. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our Wisdom and our Guide, Amen.
