Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We rejoice with you in your desire to seek vision from God rather than simply pursuing your own personal goals, and we join with you in prayer in Jesus' name for His revelation and guidance in your life.

You have quoted Proverbs 29:18 so well, where it is written Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint, but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. This reminds us that true vision is not merely our own ambition or imagination, but the revealed will and Word of God that keeps us on His path and under His blessing. We also thank God with you that He does not change like shifting shadows, for Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation nor turning shadow. James 1:17. What He promises, He fulfills, and what He reveals, He will bring to pass in His perfect timing.

We also take comfort that God still speaks to His people, for it is written I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17 and also If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream. Numbers 12:6. Yet we know that every vision must be tested against the perfect and unchanging Word of God, for Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God. 1 John 4:1 and Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105. Any true vision from God will never contradict Scripture, will exalt Jesus Christ, and will draw us closer to holiness and obedience.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him with your whole heart, not just for an experience but for Him. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. And we remember His promise For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. His vision for you is better and higher than any personal goal you could set for yourself, and we pray you will have grace to write it down and wait for it as it says Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it. For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it, because it will surely come. It won’t delay. Habakkuk 2:2-3.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You for our brother or sister who hungers for Your vision and not their own way. Father, we ask that You pour out Your wisdom and revelation upon them. Grant them visions and dreams that are clearly from You, that are pure and aligned with Your holy Word. Remove any confusion, deception, or selfish ambition, and give them a discerning heart to test every spirit and to hold fast to what is good. Lead them away from merely following personal goals and lead them into Your perfect will, that they may walk in the good works You prepared beforehand for them to do. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, increase their love for Your Word, and make Your path plain before them. Give them patience to wait for Your appointed time and faith to run with the vision You give. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life, and through whom we have access to Your throne of grace. Amen.

We appreciate you sharing this desire to be led by God and not simply by your own plans. Wanting His vision at the center of your life is a humble and good place to be.

We have found that God-given vision is less about a single dramatic picture and more about a steady calling that shapes how we live day by day. It reorients our hearts toward what honors Him and gives us an appetite for what is above, so our goals become an offering rather than just ambition. Personal goals are not always wrong, but when we keep bringing them before Him, He can refine them, redirect them, or confirm them in His timing.

One simple practice that often helps is to keep that conversation ongoing with Him. As you stay rooted in Scripture and in fellowship with other believers, you can pray plainly over each plan, Lord, show me what is from You and what is just from me, and give me a willing heart to follow Your way. That faithful asking and listening often brings clarity for the next step, even when the whole path is not yet clear.

Father, we lift our friend to You with thanksgiving that You do not change and You delight to lead Your children. Grant wisdom and quiet confidence as they seek You, align their desires with Your good purposes, and make Your way clear step by step. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

It is a good and gracious desire to be led by the Lord rather than by your own personal goals, and we join you in prayer that you may be kept from following your own wisdom.

You have quoted that where there is no vision the people perish, and you ask for visions from God. Understand then what that vision is. It is not a fleeting dream or an impression of the mind, but the sure Word out of God's mouth. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth, and I can live upon it, but all the words out of man's mouth, apart from Divine Inspiration, must be as unsatisfying food as if men tried to live on stones. That vision which keeps a soul from perishing is the prophetic Word, the revealed counsel of God in Holy Scripture. Where that is despised or neglected, the people cast off restraint, but where it is received and obeyed, there is life and keeping.

We pray that the Lord will guide you with His counsel, for on earth there is no real glory for us unless we are guided by God's counsel. The first way of guidance is to be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There you find great principles infused into the heart of every man who takes God for his Guide, such as to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God. Naturally we do not like being guided, but the Grace of God dethrones obstinacy and gives us in its place acquiescence in the Divine will, and by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life, therefore wait upon the Lord in His Word and in prayer, and He will make His way plain.

Take comfort also that you are not left to chance. So it is with God's purpose. You and I are only waves of His great sea, we wash up and seem to retire, but the great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. The whole was written there from the beginning, He knew everything of it, He has never altered a single sentence nor changed a single line of the divine purpose. It is the miracle of miracles that the creature is free, absolutely free, and yet the divine purpose stands. He who has taught you from your youth, as He taught David, will not cast off His pupil. He was chastened, but he was never cast out, he still continued as God's pupil, and being taken into the School of God he was made to observe God's wondrous works.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and that every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from the Father of lights. We thank You that You fulfil the visions You give, and that Your purpose shall stand.

We ask in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, Your dear Son, that You would grant to this Your servant not a love for novelty or for private impressions, but a clear sight of Your revealed will. Open the eyes to behold wondrous things out of Your law. Cause the heart to love Your Word, to delight in it, and to be guided by it. Take away obstinacy and self will, and give a submissive heart that bows to Your counsel. Let Christ be seen as Your witness to Your holiness and Your love, and let Your Spirit go with the Word, for without the Spirit it is so much wasted breath.

Guide with Your counsel on earth, and afterward receive to Glory, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, who cleanses from all sin by His blood. Amen.
