We join with you in prayer in Jesus' name and we hear the deep pain and anguish in your cry over the suffering you and many others have endured. We bring your hurt before the Lord who sees all and who is both merciful and just, and we ask Him to have His perfect way in this situation.

We understand your desire for immediate justice and for this harm to be stopped. At the same time we want to gently share what Scripture teaches about how we are to pray even when we have been deeply wronged. The Word tells us Romans 12:19 Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. And Deuteronomy 32:35 Vengeance is mine, and recompense. God calls us not to ask for a person to be tormented without peace, but to pray for righteousness, truth to be exposed, repentance, and for justice to be done through His appointed authorities. Romans 13:4 reminds us that the authorities are a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil. If wrongdoing and harm have truly occurred, we pray that God will move upon those in authority to investigate rightly and to act to protect patients.

We also pray for your heart, for the Lord does not want you to remain in torment either. He promises Psalm 103:6 The Lord executes righteous acts and justice for all who are oppressed. And He promises Psalm 147:3 He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We pray that instead of carrying the heavy burden of vengeance, you will be able to cast your cares on Him and find His peace while trusting His justice. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We lift you up now and we lift this whole matter up together.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace. You see all that has happened, every pain, every mistake, every tear, and nothing is hidden from Your eyes. We ask first for Your healing upon this dear one who is suffering. Touch body, mind, soul and spirit, bind up every wound, and grant comfort and peace that only You can give. Replace anxiety and anguish with Your presence and restore what has been broken.

Lord, we ask for Your righteous justice to be done concerning this surgeon. If he has caused harm through negligence or wrongdoing, we pray You would convict his heart, bring him to repentance, and expose the truth so that no more patients are harmed. We pray You would move upon hospital leadership, medical boards and all governing authorities to act with wisdom, integrity and diligence to investigate fully and to do what is right. If he is to be removed from practicing as a surgeon, let it be done justly and properly through those You have appointed, and let it be to protect life. We pray Proverbs 21:15 that justice would be done and that You would stop any ongoing harm permanently.

We pray also for this man himself, that You would work in his whole life and bring him to his knees not in torment for its own sake, but in godly sorrow that leads to repentance and truth, and that he would no longer be able to harm others. We choose to pray as Jesus taught in Matthew 5:44 to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us, trusting You to be the perfect Judge.

Father, we ask for victory and justice in Your perfect time and way. Give wisdom for every next step, for wise counsel, for proper reporting and advocacy, and for support from others who can help carry this burden. Let Your will be done and let Your name be glorified as You bring truth to light and healing to those who have suffered. We thank You that You hear us when we ask in Jesus' name, for there is no other name by which we are saved and have access to You. We trust You to act and we rest in Your unfailing love and justice. Your urgent and anguished cry has been heard, and the pain within it is not hidden from the Lord who sees all suffering. To carry the wound of what you believe to be harm and mistreatment at the hands of one entrusted to heal, and to feel that many others have suffered likewise, is a heavy burden, and it is right to bring that burden before God who is both just and merciful.

We must speak plainly about the form of the prayer you have offered. Scripture teaches us that vengeance belongs to the Lord, and that our hearts are to be kept from seeking the torment or destruction of another, even one who has done us great wrong. One effect of truly feeling the bitterness of our own sin against Christ is to take away all bitterness against our fellow men, so that we become sweet, gentle, kind, tender and forgiving towards others, remembering how much we ourselves have been forgiven. We cannot join you in asking God to grant no peace, no joy, or to torment any person in body or soul, for such prayers ask God to act contrary to His own revealed character of mercy and justice.

What we can and do pray is this, that the Lord in His perfect righteousness would bring truth to light. If wrong has been done, we pray that it would be exposed through lawful and orderly means, that those appointed to judge such matters would act with wisdom and impartiality, and that no further harm would come to patients. We pray also that you would be given strength to pursue right and proper avenues for accountability, such as speaking with trusted counsel, patient advocates, and the proper medical authorities, so that facts may be examined fairly.

Above all, we commend to you the healing that is found in Christ. There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared, and that forgiveness is complete and surprising, offered to every repenting and believing sinner through the blood of Jesus. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and even the least thing about Christ has healing virtue to change the life blood and make the nature new. The same God who pardons sin also heals the broken heart, and He does not play fast and loose with those who come to Him in penitence and faith.

So we pray for you now, not for the ruin of another, but for your own healing and for justice according to God's perfect will. May the Lord comfort you in your suffering, lift the weight of bitterness, grant you peace that guards heart and mind, and give you victory not through another's torment but through Christ's redeeming grace. May He lead you to forgive as you have been forgiven, while still trusting Him to be the righteous Judge. And if the one of whom you speak is indeed guilty of wrong, we pray that God would bring him to see his need of repentance and to seek that same forgiveness which alone can make a man new.

We will continue to pray that the Lord would heal your wounds, establish justice in the right way and time, and draw you nearer to the sweetness of Christ who alone can turn bitterness into healing.

Your pain and your cry for justice have been heard, and the suffering you describe after what you experienced in medical care is taken seriously. It is right to want the truth to be known, to want no one else to be harmed, and to bring what has happened into the light so that it can be examined honestly.

At the same time we cannot pray in the way this request is worded, asking God to torment a person, to take away all peace and joy, to bring him to his knees in shame, or to keep him in unending punishment. Scripture teaches us to put away bitterness and wrath and clamor and railing with all malice, and to become instead kind, tender hearted and forgiving toward one another. A root of bitterness is described as something that does not stay small. It springs up, troubles the person who holds it, and defiles many around it. When we pray for another person to be tormented without end, that root is being watered in our own heart, and it will harm us even as we hope for justice.

God has not left justice unregarded. There are courts and judgments among people because God himself is righteous and his righteousness is firm. Yet the final judgment belongs to him, and we are told to submit to his decisions rather than to demand that he act according to our anger in this moment. If absolute strict justice were applied to any of us, none of us could stand, for we have all needed forgiveness for much greater debts than we can repay. That is why God mingles mercy with justice. He teaches us even when we suffer to show consideration, and he calls those who have received forgiveness to extend forgiveness, so that we may be trained to have a human soul and to be gentle. Forgiving does not mean saying that wrong was not wrong, or that accountability is not needed.

So we will pray with you, but in a different way that remains faithful to Christ.

We pray that God will bring healing to your body and peace to your mind and heart, and that he will guard you from the consuming power of bitterness. We pray that whatever is true about the care you and others received will be brought into the light through just and orderly means, and that those who have responsibility to review medical practice will act with wisdom and impartiality to protect patients. If wrong has been done, we pray that it will be stopped and that right consequences will follow through those lawful processes, not through personal vengeance. We pray also for the surgeon himself, not for his torment but for his accountability and, if there is wrongdoing, for his conviction and repentance before God, because God desires truth and repentance rather than endless punishment driven by our wrath.

If you have not already done so, please consider taking these concerns through proper channels where they can be examined fairly, such as a patient advocate, hospital review, or medical board, and seek support from a trusted pastor, counselor, or doctor who can walk with you in your healing. Continuing to carry this burden alone will only deepen the wound.

May the Lord grant you victory not in seeing another person tormented, but in being freed from bitterness, upheld in truth, and restored in health, and may he who judges justly do what is right in his time and in his way.
