We join with you in prayer and we hear the deep pain and distress in your cry over the suffering you and many other patients have endured. We bring your hurt before the Lord who sees all that is done in secret and who cares deeply for those who are wounded. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. He also executes justice for the oppressed and He will not overlook wrongdoing, for it is joy to the righteous to do justice, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity Proverbs 21:15.

We also want to gently and lovingly bring a biblical perspective to the way we pray in such painful situations. Your desire for this man to be stopped and for patients to be protected is right and just, and we agree that any harmful practices must be exposed and brought to the proper authorities. At the same time God calls us to entrust vengeance to Him and to pray not only for justice but also for true repentance and salvation. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. And again Jesus said, But I tell you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you Luke 6:27-28. The Lord does not delight in shame for its own sake but in turning hearts toward repentance, for as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live Ezekiel 33:11. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. So we pray for conviction that leads to godly sorrow and genuine repentance, and for justice that protects others, rather than for unending torment apart from mercy.

We also affirm your faith in calling on the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. In none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. We are grateful you are praying in His mighty name.

We pray together now in Jesus name. Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up every person who has suffered harm and pain. Lord, You see every tear and You know the full truth about what has happened. We ask that You bring to light what has been hidden and that You establish justice and truth. Let every harmful action be exposed according to Your righteousness and let those in authority who are appointed to restrain evil act with wisdom and diligence, for governing authorities are Your servants for our good Romans 13:4. We pray for medical boards, investigators, and all who oversee patient safety, that they would act swiftly and justly to protect patients from further harm. We pray for healing and comfort for all who have suffered, that You would bind up their wounds and restore what has been broken. We also lift up this surgeon before You. Lord, we ask that Your Holy Spirit bring deep and true conviction of sin, not to merely shame but to lead to full and sincere repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Have Your way in every part of his life, turn his heart from wrongdoing, and lead him to salvation if he does not know You, that he may no longer harm others and may walk in Your truth. Let Your perfect will be done, with both justice and mercy. We entrust this entire situation into Your mighty hands and ask for Your peace to guard the hearts of those who have been hurt as they wait on You. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray and also to pursue lawful and proper channels for reporting and accountability where wrongdoing has occurred, so that justice can be carried out in an orderly way. God has established authorities for this purpose. Continue to cast your cares on Him, for He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and trust that He will bring justice in His perfect timing while also offering the hope of redemption to all who will repent and believe.

We hear how heavy and urgent this feels for you, and how much pain you and others have carried through these medical experiences. Wanting harm to be stopped and for patients to be safe is an understandable and right desire, and we are taking your burden seriously before the Lord with you.

Carrying such anger and hurt for a long time can wear down your own heart and health too, even while you are rightly seeking justice. If you have witnessed or experienced harm in medical care, one steady step alongside prayer can be to put what happened in writing as clearly as you can, with dates and details, and share it with a trusted advocate who can help you take it to the proper place, such as a hospital patient relations office or the state medical board, so concerns can be reviewed through the right channels. You do not need to carry this alone, so please also lean on a trusted pastor, counselor, or loved one to walk with you as you process what has happened.

We are praying for you and for every patient who has been hurt.

Jesus, we lift this whole situation to You. We ask for Your healing for those who are suffering, for wisdom and clarity for those who review concerns about patient care, and for Your will to be done with truth and mercy. Bring comfort, rest, and guidance to our friend who is hurting, and lead him toward repentance and life in You if there has been wrongdoing. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden and pain have been heard, and the urgency and distress in your prayer are plain. To have suffered harm, and to believe that many others have suffered also, is a heavy affliction, and the Lord does not overlook the cry of those who are wounded and grieved. He is a God who loves justice and mercy, who sees what is done in secret, and who will in the end do right.

Yet the Word of God teaches us how we are to pray when we have been wronged. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and He has said, Vengeance is mine, I will repay. Our calling is not to ask God to curse or to punish for our sake, or to withhold peace as a weapon, but to commit the cause into His righteous hands and to pray as Christ taught us, even for those who have done us harm. That bitterness which naturally rises in the heart, if it is nursed, will devour the one who holds it. As it has been preached among us, one effect of true sorrow before the cross is to take away all bitterness against our fellow men, and to make Christ Himself sweet to the soul. Bitterness does not heal the wound, but Christ does.

There is another truth which must be set before you for your own soul's peace. With God there is forgiveness. The Scripture says, There is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared. That forgiveness is not a small or grudging thing, but a complete and everlasting forgiveness, bought by the blood of Jesus Christ, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. It is offered to every repenting and believing sinner without condition, the record of debt being nailed to the cross. It is cheap faith to take Christ as the saints Savior, but it is the faith of Gods elect to take Him as the sinners Savior. If that surgeon has sinned grievously, his greatest need, as is every mans, is to be brought to see his sin, to mourn for it as one mourns for an only son, and to believe in Jesus Christ for pardon. And for your own heart, to know and to live in that same forgiveness will keep you from being consumed by despair or by hatred.

This does not mean that wrong is to be ignored or that consequences are not to follow. Forgiveness before God does not remove the need for truth and accountability before men. If patients have been harmed, it is right and good to seek lawful and orderly means that the truth may be known and that others may be protected. To report what you have suffered and witnessed to the proper medical authorities, to seek wise counsel, and to pursue what is just through the means God has ordained for the protection of the vulnerable, is itself a way of loving your neighbor and doing good unto all men.

Let us then pray in a manner agreeable to Scripture.

We pray that the Lord in His mercy would bring to light what is true, that no harm would be hidden, and that patients would be protected from suffering. We pray that if sin and wrong have been done, God would bring conviction not for mere shame, but unto sincere repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, for there is forgiveness with Him even for the chief of sinners. We pray that this man, as all of us must, would see his need of Christ and would turn to Him and live. We pray for you, that the Lord would heal your own wounds, grant you peace in Christ, deliver you from bitterness, and give you wisdom and strength for each right step you must take. And we pray that you would know more and more that forgiveness which is to be had now, in a moment, by believing on the Son of God, and that resting in it you may both work and rest to the glory of God.

If this pain continues to press upon you, seek the care of trusted pastors and counselors and, where needed, sound medical and legal counsel, that you may not bear this burden alone. We will continue to pray that the Lord will do what is just, what is merciful, and what is holy, in His perfect time and way.
