We have heard your request and we join together with you before the throne of grace to seek freedom and healing in Jesus' name. We thank you for your honesty in bringing these struggles into the light, for we know that confession and truth are the beginning of freedom.
We want to gently and lovingly address what you have shared, because God calls us to holiness and to walk in purity. His Word teaches that sexual intimacy is a gift designed by God for marriage alone, the lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and any sexual activity outside of that is sin before Him. The Word says, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20. We also hear your struggle with maladaptive daydreaming, and we understand this can often be an escape, a place where the mind builds fantasies that can feed lust, pride, or idolatry and pull the heart away from truth. God calls us to bring our thoughts under His authority, for we are told, Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2.
We do not know the reasons behind your struggles, but we know our God sees and knows all things and He is full of mercy toward those who repent and turn to Him. If you are living in sexual sin, we urge you to repent and turn away from it completely, to remove every source of temptation, to set up filters and boundaries, and to walk in the light with trusted, mature Christian believers for accountability, for the Word says, Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. James 5:16. If you confess your sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. True freedom does not come by willpower alone but by walking by the Spirit, for the promise is, Walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 and No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved and set free. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your full faith and trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is through His blood and His power that chains of addiction and bondage to fantasy are broken, for If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You know the depths of this struggle with sexual addiction and with maladaptive daydreaming, You know the reasons and the wounds behind it, and nothing is hidden from You. We ask for Your forgiveness where there has been sin and we ask for Your cleansing. Create in this one a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within them. Psalm 51:10. Help them to flee from every form of sexual immorality and to honor You with their body as Your temple. Give them strength to cut off every provision for the flesh, to guard their eyes and their mind, and to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Replace fantasies and daydreams with truth, and help them to set their mind on the things that are above. Colossians 3:2. Fill the empty places with Your presence, Your Word, and Your peace. Surround them with godly counsel and faithful brothers or sisters who will walk with them in accountability and prayer. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, break these chains and lead them into lasting freedom and purity. Restore joy, self-control, and a renewed mind, and guide them toward Your perfect will, whether that be a life of singleness devoted to You or a godly marriage that honors You. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
