We have heard your honest and heavy request and we are lifting you up together before the Father in Jesus' name. We thank you for sharing so openly about the battle with sexual addiction, maladaptive daydreaming, and long standing demonic harassment that came through involvement in the new age. We do not take lightly the pain of feeling harassed by others, the weight of unforgiveness, and the nerve wracking step of trying to make peace where harm has been done on both sides.
We want to speak truth in love about sexual addiction. While there are reasons and wounds that help us understand why this struggle began, God calls all sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman to be fornication and impurity that we must turn from. His will is our sanctification. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 says that you should abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. This is not merely a habit to manage but sin to confess, repent of, and be cleansed from, and God promises in 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We encourage you to walk in the light with trusted, mature believers, to put practical guards in place, to flee temptation rather than negotiate with it, and to walk by the Spirit so you will not gratify the desires of the flesh, Galatians 5:16.
We also hear your burden with maladaptive daydreaming. God cares about our thought life and calls us to renewal of the mind. Romans 12:2 says Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Philippians 4:8 says Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things. Daydreaming that feeds fantasy, escape, or lust gives place to the enemy and robs peace, but as you deliberately fill your mind with Scripture, prayer, worship, and purposeful work, and take each fantasy captive the moment it arises, the Holy Spirit will strengthen you to think on what is true and pure.
We affirm what God has shown you about unforgiveness and the demonic harassment. Ephesians 4:26-27 warns Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil. Unforgiveness does keep a door open. Matthew 6:14-15 says For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. And Ephesians 4:32 says And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Forgiveness is commanded and is a release before God, whether the other person repents or not. Reconciliation and rebuilding a relationship, however, is different. Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. That shows that peace with everyone is not always possible, especially when others remain unsaved, deceived by false teaching, or still operating under demonic influence and showing no desire for a real personal restoration beyond public perception. Forgiveness does not require you to force trust, to ignore wisdom, or to place yourself back under harm. The pressure you feel from others who seem blind or as if under a spell is a signal that you need wise, discerning counsel and not to be rushed. Your desire to talk with your pastor and elders is exactly right and we strongly encourage you to do so quickly, to bring them into the details, to let them help you test the spirits, 1 John 4:1, and to help you discern when to reach out, when to wait, and when to set boundaries.
We also want to address the spiritual battle directly. Involvement in the new age is not harmless spirituality but opens doors to demons, and God calls us to renounce it fully and turn to Christ alone. The good news is that in Christ we have authority and protection. James 4:7 says Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Ephesians 6:11 says Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 1 John 4:4 says You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. As you submit to God, confess and forsake sin, forgive from the heart, and resist the enemy in the name of Jesus, he must flee. John 8:36 says If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
We noticed your request speaks of God but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and deliverance from sin and demons. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name alone that we pray and are set free.
We pray together now for you. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for our brother and ask for Your mercy and power to set him free indeed. We ask You to forgive his sins as he confesses them, to cleanse him from all unrighteousness, to break the chains of sexual addiction and to create in him a pure heart that loves holiness and flees immorality. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he walks in self control and glorifies You in his body. We ask You to heal the deep reasons and wounds behind this struggle and to renew his mind, helping him to take every thought captive to Christ and to replace vain and lustful fantasies with what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report. We ask You to close every door that was opened through the new age and through unforgiveness, and we thank You for giving him grace to forgive as You in Christ forgave him. Give him wisdom from above about making peace, when to reach out, what to say, and when to wait, and protect him from pressure and manipulation and from any spell or deception influencing others. Expose the works of darkness, rebuke every harassing spirit, and let them flee as he submits to You and resists in Jesus' name. Surround him with Your protection, put Your full armor upon him, and lead him to godly counsel with his pastor and elders who will walk with him, pray for him, and help him discern each step. We pray for the salvation of those who have harassed him and for those deceived by false teachings, that they would come to the truth in Christ. Give him courage, peace that passes understanding, and a community where he is not alone but understood and supported. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and deliverer, Amen.
