Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this honest request and for asking for prayer. We hear your desire for freedom, and we want to pray with you for the true freedom that comes through Jesus Christ.
Scripture teaches that we have been bought with a price, the cross and blood of our Lord, and because of that price we are called to be not servants of sin but servants of God. True freedom is not simply being released from outward struggle, but being made free inwardly through virtue and holiness. Holiness in this sense means not only chastity, but freedom from every kind of sin, a purity of life and conscience that allows us to draw near to God with confidence. That freedom can be discerned even while we still struggle, as God forms His character in us.
We will pray for you.
Father, we thank you that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone and that He was led as a sheep to the slaughter for our freedom. We ask in His name that you would grant our brother freedom from sexual addiction and from maladaptive daydreaming. Quench the passions that war within, make his soul free, and fill him with courage to walk in holiness. Renew his mind, cleanse his conscience, and help him to fix his thoughts on what is true and pure. Teach him to sign his life with the purpose of the cross, to turn from what is outside your design for sex, which belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and to live as an example in word, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Give him strength to seek help, to walk in the light with faithful believers, and to find his satisfaction in you. We pray for perseverance, for accountability, and for the joy of a clean conscience before you.
We encourage you to continue to bring this struggle into the light. Seek regular fellowship with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can pray with you and hold you accountable, stay rooted in Scripture, and guard your heart and mind in daily prayer. When temptation or the pull to escape into daydreaming comes, remember the price paid for you and ask God to make your soul free in that moment. He is faithful to help those who call on Him with a sincere desire for holiness. We will continue to pray for your freedom and for your growth in virtue and purity.
