the spirit of astarte

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray the the Lord God cast out the spirit of astarte that is currently plaguing my life and invite the Holy Spirit in my life. In Jesus name Amen.

We join with you in the name of Jesus Christ to pray for your deliverance and for the Holy Spirit to fill your life anew, and we thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have authority and access to the Father.

We know that Astarte, also called Ashtoreth in Scripture, was a false goddess of the Canaanites and Sidonians, an abomination associated with idolatry and sexual immorality that led Israel astray. The Word tells us Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians in 1 Kings 11:5 and that the people forsook the Lord and served Baal and the Ashtoreths in Judges 2:13. God commands us You shall have no other gods before me in Exodus 20:3 and Hear, Israel, Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one in Deuteronomy 6:4. Any spirit connected to this idol is not to be tolerated or entertained but to be renounced and cast out, for we are told You can’t drink both the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons in 1 Corinthians 10:21 and What agreement has a temple of God with idols For you are a temple of the living God in 2 Corinthians 6:16.

We encourage you to fully renounce and turn away from anything that may have given this spirit a foothold, whether it be idols, images, occult practices, sexual immorality, pornography or any form of worship or fascination with false gods. Scripture calls us to Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth sexual immorality, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry in Colossians 3:5 and to Flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18. If there are objects, books, media or practices in your home or life that honor this spirit, we urge you to remove and destroy them as the people did when they put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served Yahweh only in 1 Samuel 7:4. Confess all known sin to the Lord, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9.

We do not fight this battle in our own strength. We are told Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you in James 4:7 and that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and spiritual powers in Ephesians 6:12. In Christ we have authority, for Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world in 1 John 4:4 and Jesus said Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy in Luke 10:19. When we belong to Jesus, our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you in 1 Corinthians 6:19 and we are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit in Ephesians 1:13. We do not need to invite Him as a stranger, but we do ask to be filled and led by Him daily, as we are commanded Be filled with the Spirit in Ephesians 5:18.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ your Son, we come before your throne of grace on behalf of our dear brother or sister who is being plagued by the spirit of Astarte. We confess that you alone are God and there is no other, and we renounce Ashtoreth and every idol, every work of darkness and every sin connected to this evil spirit. We ask you to forgive and cleanse through the blood of Jesus shed on the cross. We take authority in the name of Jesus and we rebuke and command the spirit of Astarte and every unclean spirit with it to leave and to go where Jesus sends it, never to return. We declare that this life belongs to Jesus Christ and is bought with a price. Lord, we ask you to fill every place once occupied by darkness with your Holy Spirit. Fill this heart with your presence, your peace, your purity and your power. Let the Spirit who raised Christ from the dead dwell richly within, as it is written If the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you in Romans 8:11. Clothe our sibling in the whole armor of God, that they may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil in Ephesians 6:11. Lead them into your Word daily, into prayer, into fellowship with faithful believers, and keep their mind stayed on you. We thank you that whom the Son sets free is free indeed, and we trust you for complete deliverance and lasting freedom. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to walk in this freedom daily by submitting to God, resisting the devil, abiding in Scripture, praying without ceasing, and walking in fellowship and accountability with other mature believers who can pray with you and help you guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

We are grateful you reached out and named what has been weighing on you. Wanting to be free of what oppresses you and to be filled with the Holy Spirit is a good and honest desire, and we want to stand with you in it.

We believe the spiritual struggle you describe is real, and we also believe you do not have to face it alone. One of the kindest ways God helps us is through the presence of the Holy Spirit as Counselor and Helper, who brings power and also truth and love that steadies us over time. Walking with others makes that more tangible.

A next step that often helps is to invite a couple of trusted, mature believers, perhaps a pastor in your local church, to pray with you regularly and walk with you in the weeks ahead, so you have ongoing support and not just a single moment of prayer. Continuing to stay rooted in prayer, worship and fellowship can help you keep making room for the Spirit in daily life.

Father, we lift our friend to you in Jesus name. We ask you to cast out every influence that is not from you and to fill this life anew with your Holy Spirit. Bring peace where there has been turmoil, light where there has been darkness, and steady assurance of your nearness. Lead and keep them, and guide their next steps in your wisdom and care. Amen.

Your prayer for deliverance has been heard and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace. There can be no concord between God and Belial, and the spirit you name, that unclean spirit of Astarte, is an enemy to holiness and must flee before the power of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember that the Holy Spirit was not given until Jesus had been glorified, and now that Christ has been glorified at the right hand of the Father, the Holy Spirit is given to them that believe on Him. It is much better to have the Holy Spirit, because He is dwelling with us and in us. The little narrow heart of man, though it be but a cottage, a very hovel, and all unholy and unclean, the Holy Spirit condescends to make His palace and His continual abode when that heart is washed in the blood of Christ. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and it is He who casts out the unclean spirit and seals the soul for Himself.

Therefore we pray for you that you may not grieve the Holy Spirit, for unholiness of life and unbelief grieve Him sorely, but that you may receive Him in power. Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed, for He is the Author of all spiritual life and without Him we are dead in trespasses and sins, and no man can become holy except by the Spirit of Holiness. We must pray in the Holy Spirit and through the Holy Spirit, for that prayer which is not in the Holy Spirit is in the flesh, but when we pray in His power He helps our infirmities and teaches us how to pray.

Let us pray together.

O Lord God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we come through the blood of Jesus Christ Thy Son who was glorified that the Spirit might be given. We ask Thee in the name of Jesus to cast out every unclean spirit of Astarte and every work of darkness that has plagued this soul. Drive it forth by Thy power, and let no place be found for it any more. Wash this heart with the blood of Christ, make it Thy temple, and come Thou Holy Spirit to dwell within. Seal this one as Thine own child, teach and quicken and sanctify, and give power to walk according to the Gospel and to glorify Christ in all things. Keep this soul from grieving Thee by unbelief or unholiness, and let the indwelling and outflowing of Thy Spirit be known as a well of living water springing up within. We ask this not by our own strength but by reliance upon the might of God the Holy Spirit alone, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your cry and we join you in prayer before the Lord God who alone has power to deliver and to save through Jesus Christ.

The Scriptures teach that there is one true God and that idols such as Astarte are empty and deceiving, and behind them work unclean spirits that seek to draw hearts away from God. Yet you do not need to live in fear of them, for Christ has taken away the curse, loosed sin, and reconciled us to the Father by His cross, and He has promised to give the Holy Spirit to those who turn to Him in repentance and faith. The Spirit is gentle and pure, like a dove, bringing not bondage and fear but adoption as children of God, and He is shed abroad into our hearts to make us new, to cleanse us, and to lead us into life.

We pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we ask You to have mercy on this one who seeks You. Forgive all sin and every opening given to false gods and unclean spirits, wash this life clean by the blood of Christ and by the baptism You have given for the remission of sins. We ask You to cast out every influence of the spirit of Astarte and every work of darkness that has plagued this life, and command it to depart and return no more. Fill this heart instead with Your Holy Spirit, the Spirit of adoption and of life in Christ Jesus, that there may be peace, purity, and strength to walk in Your ways. Teach this dear one to abide in Christ, to turn from all idolatry and impurity, to hear Your Word and to live in obedience and hope, trusting not in any other power but in Jesus alone who gives eternal life. Guard this life, make it a dwelling place for Your Spirit, and lead it into wholeness and freedom. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and I have prayed with you in the name of Jesus.

The desire you expressed is right, to turn away from every influence that opposes Christ and to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures show that Astarte was an idol associated with impurity and false worship, and any spirit behind such idolatry stands in direct opposition to the living God. Deliverance does not come through fear or through focusing on the power of that influence, but through Jesus Christ who has already overcome all the power of the enemy.

If you have put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord, you can have confidence about the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches that no one can sincerely confess that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit, and that every person who belongs to Christ has the Spirit dwelling within. Your body as a believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit. He is given as a seal and a guarantee that you belong to God. When you sincerely seek God for more of His Spirit, He will not allow a false or evil spirit to take control in place of His answer. The Father gives good gifts to His children who ask Him.

There is a difference between the Spirit living within you and the Spirit filling and empowering your life. At conversion the Spirit comes to dwell in you, to convict of sin, to draw you to Christ, and to begin conforming you to the image of Jesus. To be filled with the Spirit is to be continually empowered, led, and controlled by Him so that His life flows out from you. After the promise was fulfilled when the Spirit was poured out at Pentecost, the Scripture never again tells believers to wait or tarry for the Spirit as if He had not been given. He has been given to the church as a gift, and the invitation now is to receive and be filled by faith.

The way to walk in freedom is not by trying to reform the old nature. God has no program to reform the flesh. The Scripture says our old self was crucified with Christ and that in our flesh dwells no good thing. Freedom comes as we, by the Spirit, put to death the deeds of the flesh. That means making no provision for the flesh, not feeding or sowing to it, but sowing to the Spirit. When we sow to the Spirit, through His Word which is spirit and life, through prayer and obedience, we reap life and peace. As we walk after the Spirit and are led by the Spirit, we show that we are sons of God, and He produces His fruit in us, especially love.

So I encourage you to bring this fully into the light before the Lord. Confess and turn from any practice, image, relationship, or habit that has given place to that influence, especially any sexual impurity or idolatrous practice, for those things belong outside of God's design for purity and for marriage between one man and one woman. Replace them with what feeds the Spirit. Fill your mind with Scripture, keep short accounts with God in confession, and ask daily to be filled anew and led by the Spirit.

I am praying for you in this way:

Father, thank You for the power of Your Holy Spirit made available through Jesus Christ who died and rose again and ascended on high. In the name of Jesus I ask that every influence of darkness and every work of this false spirit be cast out and have no place in this life. Forgive and cleanse through the blood of Christ. I ask that You fill this dear one with Your Holy Spirit, that You would indwell, empower, and lead, and that Your love would be perfected within. Teach how to walk after the Spirit and by the Spirit to put to death the deeds of the flesh, making no provision for it, but living to please You. Let Christ be confessed as Lord in full sincerity and let there be assurance that You have sealed this life as Your own. Grant power to live like Christ and to bear witness to Him. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily. If temptation or oppression returns, do not hold your peace or hide it, but call on the Lord immediately and walk in the light with other faithful believers who can pray with you and help you stay accountable to sowing to the Spirit. God will bring deliverance and His purposes will stand for those who trust Him.
