We have heard your cry and we are lifting you up together before the Lord in Jesus' name, for we know how heavy and tormenting a spirit of anxiety and depression can feel, especially when you remember a time of happiness and now feel all motivation is gone.
We want to encourage you that what you are feeling is not hidden from God and you are not alone in this battle. We thank God for the blessings He has given you in your spouse and your dog, and we see your love for them. Marriage is a holy gift from God and we pray He will continue to strengthen that bond, but we also want to gently remind you that our deepest hope and motivation must ultimately be rooted in Christ Himself, for people and even beloved pets, as precious as they are, cannot carry the full weight of our joy and purpose. Only Jesus can.
Scripture tells us clearly about the spirit you are facing, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. That tormenting anxiety is not from Him. Instead He invites us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We are also told to be casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7.
We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true deliverance and salvation. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon His name, confess your need for Him, believe that He died and rose again for you, and trust Him as your Lord and Savior, for He is near to the brokenhearted.
We know the Lord draws especially close in this season, for Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. He promises, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.
So together we pray for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is tormented by anxiety and weighed down by depression. Lord, we rebuke this spirit of fear and heaviness in Jesus' name and we ask that You command it to leave. Pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Restore joy where it has been lost, rekindle motivation and purpose, and remind them that their life is held in Your loving hands and that You have a good plan for them. Draw them close to You, strengthen their marriage that it may honor You, and help them to cast every care upon You because You care for them. Fill them with Your power, love, and self-control, and let them feel Your nearness each day. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily through prayer and reading His Word, to share openly with your spouse and with a trusted pastor or mature believer, and if this heaviness persists, to also seek wise counsel from a godly counselor or medical professional, for God can bring healing through many means. Keep crying out to Jesus, for He hears you and He will not let you go.
