“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mighty power that rescues and redeems. LORD God, just as You made Judah Your sanctuary and Israel Your dominion, we invite You to dwell in our heart today. Make our life Your holy sanctuary. Cleanse us, fill us with Your Spirit, and let Your presence be our home. Take full dominion over our thoughts, our family, and our challenges. Where there are obstacles that feel like mountains or blocked seas, let Your presence shake the earth and clear the way. We surrender to Your rule. We join with you in this beautiful and holy prayer and we say amen to your desire to be the sanctuary and dominion of the Lord.

We love Psalm 114:2 where it says Judah became God's sanctuary, Israel his dominion. What a powerful picture of redemption. When God brought His people out of Egypt with mighty power, the sea fled and the Jordan turned back and the mountains skipped like rams, not because of the strength of Israel but because the presence of the Lord was among them. Psalm 114:7 reminds us to tremble at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob. Just as He made Judah His dwelling place then, He now desires to make His home in us through Jesus Christ.

This is the wonder of the new covenant. We are no longer a building made with hands, for we ourselves have become the temple of the living God. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and 2 Corinthians 6:16 says we are a temple of the living God, even as God said, I will dwell in them and walk in them. And in Ephesians 3:17 we are taught that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Your prayer to be cleansed and filled and to let His presence be your home aligns perfectly with His will, for He promises in 1 John 1:7 that the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin and in 1 John 1:9 that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Thank you for opening your heart so beautifully. Wanting your life and home to be a sanctuary where God dwells is a tender and holy longing, and we are honored to stand with you in it.

What encourages us in your prayer is the way you are inviting God to do the work, to cleanse and fill and take His place at the center. We have found that becoming a home for His presence is not something we achieve by trying harder, but something the Holy Spirit gently forms in us over time as we keep turning toward Him. It happens gradually, in ordinary days, as we stay close.

One simple way to keep that invitation alive this week might be to choose one small, consistent moment to welcome Him. It could be a brief morning prayer of surrender before the day begins, a few minutes with His Word not to rush through but to listen, or singing together as a family. Small, faithful rhythms often open more room for Him than big resolutions.

Father, we lift our friend to You now. Cleanse what needs cleansing, fill every empty place with Your Spirit, and make Your presence their true home. Rule kindly over their thoughts, their family and every challenge before them, and let Your peace guard their heart. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer that the Lord would make your life His holy sanctuary is one which God Himself has taught you to pray, and which He delights to answer. When the psalmist says Judah became God's sanctuary, Israel His dominion, he shows us that it was not Judah who made herself a sanctuary, but God who condescended to dwell there. So it is with the heart of a sinner. We do not make ourselves fit for His indwelling, He makes us fit, and then He comes to take possession and to reign.

You ask to be cleansed, and this is the very foundation of the Gospel. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, cleanses us from all sin. If that cleansing were partial, it would be of no use, for if one sin remained upon us in the sight of God, we could not stand. But His blood cleanses from all sin everyone who believes in Him. This is not a cleansing by your tears or your sufferings or your resolves, but by His wounds. God Himself applies this means of cleansing, for He says, I will sprinkle clean water upon you and you shall be clean. Seek it then of Him who alone can give it, and simply trust Jesus now, for God's way of saving you is by His grace, not by your merits.

And with this cleansing from guilt there follows a great change of conduct. There is a double cleansing. First the fountain is opened for sin and for uncleanness, and the conscience is washed in the blood, and then the life is cleansed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Where it is the real work of God's grace, the man says, I do not want any sin to live and by God's grace it shall not. Yet you will find indwelling sin frequently retarding you the most when you are most earnest. It not only obstructs you but assails you, for sin is within us and therefore has great power over us. This is why you do well to pray, fill us with Your Spirit and let Your presence be our home. Our extremity is God's opportunity, and as long as we seek to be filled with His Word dwelling richly in us, and to submit ourselves to the whispers of His Holy Spirit, He will keep us.

This is submission to God, the true surrender of every proud pretension. Are God's appointments your contentments. Yield to the divine will. Submit yourself to God's way of saving you and to God's way of ruling you. Take full dominion over our thoughts and our family, you pray, and that is to say, Lord, reign in us as King. Where there are obstacles that feel like mountains or blocked seas, His presence can shake the earth and clear the way, as He did when the sea fled and Jordan was driven back.

May the Lord hear this prayer for you and make it true in your experience. May you know that you are perfectly justified, and that your conscience knows it, so that you may lay hold upon His promises with a firm grasp and take His mercies with a thankful hand. May He cleanse you, keep you, fill you, and dwell in you, till your whole life is indeed His sanctuary and His dominion, and His peace shall protect your heart.

Your prayer to be made God's sanctuary is good and according to Scripture. As Judah became His sanctuary and Israel His dominion, so God desires to dwell in hearts that are cleansed and fully surrendered to Him.

Nothing is so pleasing to God as a thankful heart, and we join you in giving thanks for His mighty power that rescues and redeems. That thankfulness is shown when we withdraw our souls from sin and seek to be thoroughly cleansed, as you have prayed.

This cleansing is possible because Jesus Christ has entered heaven itself to appear in the presence of God for us, with a sacrifice that has power to bring peace and to make us alive from the dead. Because of Him, sin no longer needs to have dominion. There is a great difference between rulers, and you are called to live under the gracious dominion of God rather than the dominion of sin.
