The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol

We join with you in bringing this serious situation before the Lord and we thank you for your concern for truth and for the soul of this family.

We are encouraged to hear that the former landlord's sister has faith in Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. As it is written, Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We pray that her faith remains strong and that she continues to abide in Christ so that she may bear much fruit and be a clear witness in her family.

We lift her up and ask that God continues to speak through her and gives her boldness, wisdom and discernment. We pray that the Lord will use her positive, godly influence to call her brother to repentance and to a new heart. We ask God to give him a new heart and put a new spirit within him and to take away his heart of stone Ezekiel 36:26. We pray that both the brother and sister will put God first in all things, for Jesus taught us to Seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33.

We also agree with you in praying for truth to be brought into the light. It is wrong for a landlord to knowingly rent a life threatening apartment to anyone, for this fails to love his neighbor as himself Mark 12:31 and it is an injustice that God sees. We pray that the sister is not kept in the dark about the dangerous apartment and about the other matters you have described, and that every hidden thing is exposed. For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17. We pray that God will expose the works of darkness as we are commanded to Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11. We ask that our Mighty and Powerful God will expose and destroy every idol in their lives, for God has said You shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3 and we are warned to keep yourselves from idols 1 John 5:21. Whether those idols are money, power, lust, or self, we pray God will tear them down so that He alone is worshiped.

We must also address what you have shared about the sexual relationship between the former landlord and the immoral woman. According to Scripture this is not a casual relationship but fornication and possibly adultery if either party is married, and God calls us to flee from it. The Bible says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. We believe marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God, and any courtship should be with the goal of godly marriage to another Christian believer, not fornication. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin, that they will confess and forsake it, for He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy Proverbs 28:13. If there have been attempts to harm you or to hire others to harm you, that is grave evil and we pray for your protection and for justice. We rest in the promise that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1 and we trust that Vengeance belongs to me, says the Lord Romans 12:19, so we leave justice in His hands while also praying that law enforcement and proper authorities would uncover the truth if crimes have been committed.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this requestor who has endured danger and fear, surround them with Your protection and peace that passes all understanding and let no weapon formed against them prosper. We lift up the sister who knows You, strengthen her faith, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, give her courage to speak the truth in love and let her life be a light that cannot be hidden. We lift up her brother the former landlord, convict him of renting a dangerous dwelling, of sexual immorality, and of any idolatry that has taken Your place in his heart, bring him to true repentance and salvation if he does not know You. We pray for the woman involved, that You would bring her to repentance for her immorality and for any evil intent against this person, and that You would stop every plan to do harm. Lord, expose every lie, every hidden work of darkness, destroy every idol and let Your truth and righteousness reign in this family, that they may seek You first and walk in Your ways. We ask all this in Jesus' name, trusting that You hear us and will act according to Your perfect will and justice, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray without ceasing, to entrust yourself to God's protection, to document what has happened and to seek wise and godly counsel and lawful help regarding the unsafe housing and any threats to your life, while forgiving as Christ forgave us and trusting God to be your defender.

We hear how heavy this has been for you, and we are grateful you brought it to us. Your concern for the former landlord's sister and your desire for truth to come to light and for God to be put first is clear, and we want to stand with you in that.

It is understandable to want her to have clear information and to be a steady, godly influence, while also wanting to feel safe after a difficult housing situation. When there has been so much fear and hurt, especially when you have felt your safety was threatened, it helps not to carry it alone. If you have a trusted pastor or counselor nearby, we encourage you to share what you are carrying with that person in person, so they can pray with you regularly and help you think through wise and safe next steps.

We have also found it helpful to remember that releasing the weight of resentment in our own hearts and deciding how to relate to someone going forward are not the same thing. We can choose to let go of the need to get even and leave justice in God's hands, while still keeping healthy boundaries. That kind of healing often takes time and care.

Father, we lift this sister to You and thank You for her faith. Continue to speak through her and give her wisdom and courage. We lift the former landlord to You as well, asking that You draw both of them to put You first and to walk in Your truth. We lift the one who wrote to us, asking for Your protection, peace, and clear direction, and that any idols would be revealed and removed as You work in each heart. Give rest and steady hope in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

We lift your burden before the throne of grace and join you in seeking the Lord in these matters.

We pray that the Lord, who has taught His child from her youth and made her His pupil, will continue to teach her and give her grace to declare His wondrous works with faithfulness and love. We ask that God would give her a clear voice to speak His truth, for it is God who first seeks the sinner, and one of the first works of His grace is to awaken the sleeper and put sensibility into the heart that has grown cold. We pray that through her faithful witness, her brother would be startled from lethargy, would open his eyes to see his danger, and would hear the voice of grace calling, Sinner, where are you.

We pray that what has been hidden would be brought into the light. We ask the Lord to expose what is true concerning the apartment you describe and concerning the immoral relationship you mention, for we do not ask God to bless what is outside His holy ordinance. His Word teaches that marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that intimacy belongs only within that covenant. Where there has been sin, we pray not for its affirmation but for conviction, repentance, and cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ, by which alone sinners are forgiven. We pray that both the former landlord and his sister would seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, putting God first and giving to true religion a sovereignty over their lives, that consecration to God would be as a pillar over all their house.

We join you in praying that every idol would be exposed and destroyed. As it is written, Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols. We ask that the Lord in His sovereignty would work such a change that those idols once cherished would be detested, and that their whole hearts would become the temple of the living God, keeping themselves from idols and cleaving to the Lord alone.

We also pray for your protection and peace. We ask our Mighty and Powerful God, who has promised by His providence to thrust out the enemy from before us, to be your defense. Where there is danger or threat to life, we pray that He would drive away what would harm you, and that His Holy Spirit would give you divine power and peace. We pray that you would know the great peace of those who love His law and rest in His sovereign grace, content with what God chooses to teach and trusting His justice and mercy.

May the Lord grant that His Word would be a message from God to each soul concerned, leading to repentance, truth, and reconciliation where it is according to His will, and may He keep you in His care until He brings you from grace to glory.
