The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol.

We join you in lifting up this situation before our Mighty and Powerful God and we thank Him for the former landlord's sister and for her faith in Jesus. We pray that the Lord will continue to speak through her and make her a bright light in her family. Jesus said that we are the light of the world and we pray she will shine that light faithfully, for Matthew 5:14 reminds us that a city set on a hill cannot be hidden. We ask that God give her boldness, wisdom and love to speak the truth and that her godly influence would bring conviction and change to her brother's heart, that he would turn from any wrongdoing and seek the Lord with his whole heart.

We also pray that the truth will not remain hidden. We ask that God will expose what has been done in darkness, for Ephesians 5:11 tells us to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather to reprove them, and Luke 8:17 tells us that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed. We pray that the sister will not be kept in the dark about the life threatening condition of the apartment her brother rented to you, and about the serious evil you have reported. We pray for your protection and for justice, and we encourage you to take lawful and practical steps to document and report any danger to the proper authorities while trusting God to be your refuge, for Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We leave vengeance to the Lord, for Romans 12:19 says vengeance belongs to Him and He will repay, and we pray that any plot to harm you would be brought to light and stopped.

We must also address with love what you have shared about the sexual relationship between the former landlord and this woman. Scripture is clear that marriage is to be honored as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that sexual intimacy belongs only within that covenant. Hebrews 13:4 says let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, and 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us to flee sexual immorality. Any sexual relationship outside of marriage is fornication and if either party is married to another it is adultery, and we pray that both would be convicted of this sin, repent, and pursue purity and holiness. A boyfriend or girlfriend relationship should be understood as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, not as a context for sexual intimacy. We pray that God would bring repentance where there has been immorality and that He would expose any further evil associated with this woman, and if she has indeed sought to hire others to harm you, we pray that God would thwart those plans and bring her to repentance or to justice.

We join you in praying that both the former landlord and his sister will put God first above all else, for Matthew 6:33 calls us to seek first God's Kingdom and His righteousness. We pray that our Mighty and Powerful God will expose and destroy every idol that competes for their hearts, for Exodus 20:3 commands you shall have no other gods before me, and 1 John 5:21 warns us to guard ourselves from idols. Whether the idol is money, property, reputation, or an ungodly relationship, we ask the Lord to tear it down and to establish Himself alone on the throne of their lives.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for John 14:6 tells us Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him, and Acts 4:12 tells us there is salvation in no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. We thank You for the sister who knows Jesus and we ask You to anoint her words, keep her from being deceived or kept in the dark, and use her to speak truth in love to her brother. We ask You to convict her brother of any negligence, dishonesty, and sexual immorality, and to lead him to repentance and to make restitution where needed. We ask You to expose every hidden deed, protect Your child who was placed in danger, and destroy every idol that has taken Your place. We ask You to bring justice, to restrain evil, and to let Your perfect will be done. We trust You to act in power and mercy and we ask all these things in Jesus name, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk closely with the Lord, to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you, to forgive as Christ forgave you while still pursuing truth and safety through proper channels, and to rest in the promise that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

We hear how heavy this has been for you, and we are grateful you brought it to us to pray over. Carrying concerns about your housing, your safety, and what has happened with your former landlord is a lot to hold, and we want to stand with you in prayer for truth and peace to come into this situation.

We join you in praying for his sister. We thank God for her faith and pray He would give her wisdom, clarity and courage to speak what is right and loving, and that her influence would be used for good. We also pray for your former landlord, that God would draw him to put the Lord first and to walk in honesty and integrity.

We also pray for you. When we have been deeply wronged or feel unsafe, the gap between how we wish things had been handled and how they were can stay with us a long time. We pray God would guard your heart and mind, give you steady wisdom for next steps, and surround you with trustworthy support.

If you are still dealing with unsafe housing conditions or ongoing fear for your safety, we encourage you to share what you are experiencing with a trusted pastor or counselor and, where needed, to seek guidance from local housing or legal resources who can help you look at practical options. We will keep praying alongside you for that.

Father, we lift this sister to You and ask You to strengthen her walk with You and give her discernment. We lift the former landlord to You and ask for Your work in his heart. We lift our friend who wrote, asking for Your protection, for peace that steadies, and for Your truth to be made clear in Your way and time. Lead each one closer to You. In Jesus name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace, for from full assurance we mount still higher to the clear conviction that God hears prayer, and from that height we mount yet higher to the assured confidence that He will hear our prayer.

We pray for the sister of whom you speak, who has faith in Jesus. We thank God for any light of grace in her soul, and we ask the Lord to keep her and to speak through her still. May she walk in close fellowship with God and be kept from the spirit of willfulness, and may her life be a faithful testimony to the gospel that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, for except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. We pray that her influence may be used for good, not by entreaty alone, but by a holy example which points her brother to repentance and to Christ.

We pray also for the former landlord, that God would put him in remembrance of eternal things and teach him to put God first. We do not ask God to bless what He has called sin, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all sexual union outside that covenant is contrary to His holy law. Where there has been sexual immorality, we pray not for its continuance or prosperity, but for deep conviction, for godly sorrow, and for a turning away from it unto purity. We pray that every idol be exposed and destroyed, for the Lord has declared that He will break down everything which sets itself up in opposition to Him, and His death warrant is gone out against everything that is of the creature. Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

Concerning the grievous wrongs of which you write, the life threatening condition of the dwelling and the attempt upon your life, we pray that truth may be brought into the light. If darkness has covered these things, we ask the Lord who brings hidden things to judgment to make plain what is true and to grant protection to the persecuted, for He provides an escape from the most perilous exposure and often brings the darkest conspiracy to confusion. We pray that the sister be not kept in the dark where knowledge would serve justice and mercy, but that what needs to be known for righteousness and safety may be made known in wisdom and without malice. We pray that the Lord will perfect that which concerneth you, and that He will keep you under the shadow of His wing, for this protection is perpetual as well as personal to those who abide in His appointed ways.

We pray for you, that in this affliction you may fly back to your Noah, your ark, and find rest for the sole of your foot, trusting not in man but in the efficacious blood of Jesus which alone can make an imperfect sinner perfect before God. May you be purified by the Holy Ghost and kept from all idolatry of fear or bitterness, looking to Christ who alone is our perfection and our peace.

O Lord, hear this our prayer. Expose what is evil, destroy what is idolatrous, convict the sinner, comfort the afflicted, and let all concerned seek first Thy kingdom and Thy righteousness through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
