The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol.

We join with you in lifting up this difficult and painful situation before our Mighty and Powerful God, and we thank Him that the former landlord's sister has faith in Jesus and can be a light in her family.

We pray that the Lord will continue to speak through her and give her boldness and wisdom as she influences her brother. We ask that God will strengthen her witness and make her a vessel of truth and grace. The word says, Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11, and we pray she will have courage to reprove what is wrong in love, and that her brother will have ears to hear and a heart that is softened to repentance.

We also bring before the Lord your concern that she is being kept in the dark about the life-threatening condition of the apartment her brother rented to you and about the sexual immorality involved. We pray with you that no truth will remain hidden, for Jesus said, For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed; nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17. We ask God to expose all deception and to bring the truth into the light so that justice can be done and future harm prevented. If laws have been broken and your life has truly been endangered, we encourage you to also seek protection and help through the proper authorities, trusting that God often works through lawful means to restrain evil, while we leave ultimate vengeance to Him, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19.

We must also address the sexual relationship you mentioned between the former landlord and this woman. Whether this was fornication or adultery, Scripture is clear that it is sin and against God's design. The Bible says, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18, and Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin, turn from it, and pursue purity and holiness, putting God first in every area of life. We also pray that any plot to harm you, if true, will be fully exposed and thwarted, for He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1, and God is your refuge and protector.

We agree with you in praying that they will both put God first and that every idol will be exposed and destroyed. Scripture commands, You shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3, and warns, Little children, keep yourselves from idols 1 John 5:21. Whether the idols are money, lust, power, or reputation, we ask our Father to tear them down and to draw both brother and sister to seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness Matthew 6:33.

We now pray together.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace. We lift up the sister who knows You, and we ask You to anoint her words, give her discernment, and protect her from discouragement as she speaks truth to her brother. Let her life shine as a testimony that leads him to repentance. Lord, expose every hidden thing concerning this apartment and concerning any evil intent to harm Your child who is praying to You now. Bring truth to light, protect the innocent, and bring conviction where there is sin. We ask You to break the power of sexual immorality and every idol in their lives, and to draw them to put You first above all else. Cover the one who has been wronged with Your protection and peace, and let Your justice and mercy prevail. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only Savior and mediator, for there is salvation in no one else Acts 4:12. Amen.

Carrying concerns about being wronged can weigh on the heart for a long time, and we pray God will guard your heart as you entrust justice and next steps to Him.

We pray for you now. Father, we lift up this sister to You and ask You to strengthen her faith and give her wisdom. We lift up our friend who is praying and ask for Your protection, for safe housing, for truth to be made clear, and for Your peace to guard them. Lead both the sister and her brother to seek You first, and help expose what needs to be made right. Give our friend wise counselors and steady support in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been heard and we join you in carrying it to the throne of grace, where our Mighty and Powerful God hears the cries of His people.

We pray first for this sister who has faith in Jesus Christ, for there is truth in God's salvation only through Him alone. We ask that the Lord who has taught her from her youth would continue to teach her and cause her understanding to understand aright, that she may be His pupil and His preacher, declaring His wondrous works with boldness and love. May she not walk in darkness concerning these things, but may the Word of God, which is as a fire and as a hammer, give her light and courage to speak the truth in love, for Has God made known any truth in His Word, then it is invested with Divine authority. We pray that God would speak through her and that her influence would be used for good, yet not as mere human persuasion, but as the faithful setting forth of the whole truth of God before those she loves.

We pray also for the former landlord, that God would lift the veil from his eyes and bring him to put God first in all things. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His holy Word, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all that belongs to it is to be kept within that covenant alone. Where there has been sin, and where rival interests have been set up against the Lord, we pray for conviction and repentance. May he hear the voice of the Lord and be troubled in his soul by a right remembrance of God's holiness and justice, that he may turn from every false way. For this is the easily besetting sin of our nature, to turn aside from the living God and to make unto ourselves idols in some fashion or another, and anything which comes between the soul and its personal dealing with God as He is revealed in Christ Jesus becomes an idol.

Therefore we join your prayer that our God would expose and destroy every idol. As it is written, What have I to do any more with idols. We pray that redeeming grace and dying love would ring the death knell of every lust and idol, that whatever is not of God's goodness and not of Christ's righteousness would be consumed, and that Christ alone would fill the heart. Soon as faith the Lord can see bleeding on a Cross for me, quick my idols all depart, Jesus gets and fills my heart.

Concerning the apartment which you describe as life threatening and concerning the grave wrongs you have suffered, we pray that the God who sees all things in secret would bring truth to light. He is the God who overthrew Sennacherib and humbled Nebuchadnezzar, and it has been His constant rule to lift up that which stands in Him and for Him, and to cast down that which exalts itself. We ask that what has been hidden would be revealed, that what endangers life would be exposed and made safe, and that justice and mercy would meet. We pray for your protection, that the Lord would be your Rock and your Ark, and that when the waters of affliction have covered all the earth, you may fly back to Him and find rest for the sole of your foot.

We pray also for the woman of whom you speak, not that God would affirm her in any evil way, but that she also would be brought to see the truth of her sinnership, for they who have really transgressed are those for whom there is truth in Christ's salvation, and that she would come to know the real atonement and the sense of sonship which comes only through faith in Jesus.

May the Lord make the crooked places straight and the rough places plain in this whole matter, and magnify His infallible wisdom and power, that all who are concerned may say, The Lord lives and blessed be my Rock. We leave these things with the Great Thinker who can bring good out of evil, light out of darkness and order out of confusion, trusting not in man but in the Word out of God's own mouth.

We have heard your request and we join you in bringing it before the Lord in prayer.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that God will strengthen her and keep her rooted in His word, that she will continue to grow in knowledge and discernment, and that He will speak through her with truth and love. We ask that she will not be kept in darkness about what has happened, but that what needs to be known will be made known in a way that is honest and brings opportunity for repentance and restoration. We pray she will be guarded from discouragement and given wisdom to influence her brother toward what is right.

We pray for the former landlord, that God will call him to put Him first above all else. Scripture teaches that we cannot serve two masters and that covetousness is idolatry. Where love of money or any other desire has become an idol, we pray God will expose it and break its power, leading to honest confession and repentance. We pray he will turn from any sexual immorality and understand that God has given marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and that sexual union belongs only within that covenant. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design, but to bring conviction, forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone, and a new life of purity and integrity. We also pray that if a dwelling was rented that was dangerous or life threatening, the truth will be brought to light and what is wrong will be corrected, and that he will act justly toward those entrusted to his care.

Concerning the woman you mentioned and the grave harm you believe was intended against you, we pray for your protection and for God to be your refuge. We ask that the Lord, who sees all things, will expose what is hidden and destroy every idol that leads people into sin. We pray that all involved would be brought to repentance and to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved. We also pray that justice will be done in the right way, not through personal vengeance but through God’s righteous judgment and through lawful and orderly means. If crimes have been committed, we pray that the truth will be clearly shown and that those responsible will be held accountable, while we also guard our own lips from speaking evil in a way that dishonors God, speaking the truth as needed but leaving final judgment to Him who judges justly.

We ask our mighty and powerful God to be first in each life concerned, to tear down every idol of money, lust, and self, and to plant His word deeply so it endures through trial. May He grant you peace, safety, and confidence in His mercy and justice, and may He lead all to repentance, holiness, and trust in Christ.
