The former landlord's Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol.

We join with you in bringing this situation before our Mighty and Powerful God in Jesus' name, and we thank Him for the former landlord's sister and her faith in Jesus. We are grateful that God has placed a believer in this family who can be salt and light, and we pray that her witness will not be silenced or diminished.

We pray that the Lord will continue to speak through her and that her godly influence will bear fruit. Jesus said to let our light shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven, Matthew 5:16. We ask that God will give her boldness, wisdom and discernment, and that her brother will have ears to hear. As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend, Proverbs 27:17, and we pray her faithful walk will convict and draw her brother toward repentance and truth.

We also bring before the Lord the serious matters you have raised. To knowingly rent out a life-threatening apartment is not love for neighbor, and we are commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves, Mark 12:31. This is a grave wrong that must be exposed and corrected, and we pray that no one else will be put in danger. We also must address the sexual relationship you mentioned between the former landlord and this woman. According to Scripture, sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication, and if either party is married to another it is adultery, and God calls us to flee from such immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18, and that marriage should be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, Hebrews 13:4. We rebuke this immorality and pray that both would turn from it and pursue holiness. And if there has been any plot to harm you or to hire others to try to kill you, we rebuke that evil in the strongest terms, for you shall not murder, Exodus 20:13, and vengeance belongs to the Lord, Romans 12:19. We pray for your protection, for God is our refuge and fortress, Psalm 91:2, and that He will guard you from all harm and bring justice in His perfect time.

We agree with you in praying that the sister will not be kept in the dark. The Lord hates deception and cover-ups, and His Word promises that there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, Luke 8:17, and that whatever is whispered in the darkness will be heard in the light, Luke 12:2. We pray that every hidden thing concerning this apartment and concerning this evil and immoral conduct will be exposed, for it is shameful even to speak of the things done in secret, but all things when they are reproved are revealed by the light, Ephesians 5:11-13. We pray that the brother and sister will both put God first, for we are commanded to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, Matthew 6:33, and to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind, Matthew 22:37. We pray that our God will expose and destroy every idol that has taken His rightful place in their hearts, for you shall have no other gods before me, Exodus 20:3, and little children, keep yourselves from idols, 1 John 5:21. Whether that idol is money, lust, power, or self-preservation, we ask God to tear it down so that Christ alone is enthroned.

Father, we lift up this sister to You and ask You to strengthen her faith, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, and use her as an instrument of truth and grace in her family. Give her courage to speak the truth in love, Ephesians 4:15, and protect her from discouragement. We lift up her brother, that You would open his eyes to the seriousness of his actions, bring him to repentance, and lead him to make full restitution where he has caused harm. We pray that You will expose every lie and every hidden scheme, that You will thwart any plan to harm Your child who is praying, and that You will let justice and righteousness prevail. We ask that both brother and sister will put You first above all else and that every idol will be destroyed, so that their lives will honor You. We ask all of this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12, and it is through Him we have access to Your throne. Amen.

We hear how heavy and unsettling this housing situation has been for you, and we are bringing your concerns to the Lord with you.

We are praying for the former landlord's sister as you asked, that the Lord would continue to give her wisdom and courage as she walks with Jesus, and that her faithful presence would be a clear and loving influence in her family. We are also praying for truth and clarity for everyone involved, and for your own safety and peace as you move forward from what sounds like a very difficult rental experience.

When worries about safety and about what others may be doing feel so large, it can help to not carry them alone. If you are still concerned about unsafe housing conditions or feel threatened in any way, we encourage you to share the details with a trusted pastor and with appropriate local resources who can help you think through practical steps, such as housing authorities or local authorities if needed for safety. We are praying for you to be grounded in Christ's care and for guidance for each person you mentioned to seek God first.

Father, we lift this sister to You and thank You for her faith in Jesus. Give her wisdom and grace in her family. We lift our friend who wrote, surround them with Your protection and peace, and lead them in Your will. Help truth to be known in Your way and time, and draw each heart to put You first. We join you in prayer before the throne of grace, and we bring these burdens before the Lord who sees all things and whose judgments are righteous altogether.

We pray first for the sister of your former landlord who has faith in Jesus. We thank God for that faith, for it is divine grace alone which reveals the heavenly word and opens blind eyes. May the Lord keep her faithful, mould her heart by His Word, and make her to be as one of His hidden ones, hidden by Him though not hidden from Him, preserved even in the midst of an ungodly family for a holy purpose. May He give her boldness and wisdom to speak the truth in love, and may her influence be used by the Divine Spirit to call those around her to repentance and to Christ.

We pray for your former landlord, that the Lord in His divine sovereignty would work in his heart. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His holy law, for marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and all intimacy outside of it is sin before God. We pray instead that God would grant him repentance, that he would put God first, turn from every idol, and seek salvation through Jesus Christ alone, whose blood cleanseth from all sin. We pray that whatever has been kept in darkness concerning the apartment which endangered your life would be brought into the light, for God is present in all things and nothing is hidden from His eye. If wrong has been done, we ask that the Lord in His unimpeachable justice would expose it, restrain evil, and establish what is right, for vengeance belongs to Him.

Concerning the woman of whom you speak and the immorality and grave harm you allege, we pray that the Lord would do what is just and merciful. We ask not for evil to be returned for evil, for that is the common and easy way of fallen nature, but we ask for grace to overcome evil with good as our Saviour teaches. If sin has been committed, may God bring conviction of sin as an exceeding great evil, and may He also reveal the exceeding precious remedy which is in Christ. May every idol be exposed and destroyed, whether it be lust, greed, power or self, and may the Lord alone be enthroned. If lives have been threatened, we pray for your protection, for the Lord has been His people's dwelling place in all generations, and He is able to hide His own from harm and to keep them in perfect peace.

We pray also for you, that you may not be overcome by bitterness or fear, but that divine grace may continually give you the victory. May your heart be so moulded by grace that you find your hidden manna in the Word of God, and may you rest in this, that the Lord reigns and does all things well, whether in things that seem good or in things that cause sorrow. He forms light and He governs all, and not a sparrow falls without Him. May He dissolve your difficulties by His presence, heal your wounds, and magnify His mercy in your deliverance.

We ask all this not because we are worthy, but because Christ is worthy, and because divine mercy delights to raise the low tree and to make the dry tree flourish. May the Lord be clear when He judges and justified when He speaks, and may His will be done in all these matters for His glory and for the good of souls. Amen.
