Thank you for sharing this painful and serious burden. We are praying with you and taking these needs before the Lord.
We pray first for the sister who knows Jesus. Scripture calls those who follow Him to be salt in the earth, a preserving influence in a decaying world. When that salt remains pure, it helps preserve what is around it, but if it loses its strength it can do no good. We are asking God to keep her strong in faith, to give her courage and wisdom to speak the truth in love, and to let her godly influence be felt in her brother's life. A godly influence, like that of a faithful mother or family member, can have great power for good, while an ungodly influence can lead a person further into harm. Pray that the Lord will use her as that steady, preserving voice and that she will not be kept in the dark, but that what needs to be known will be brought into the light. God sees what is done in secret and He brings what is hidden into the open in His time.
We also pray for your former landlord. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His will, but we do ask God to bring conviction and a godly sorrow that leads to repentance and new life in Christ. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Any sexual relationship outside of that is fornication, a sin against God and against the persons involved, treating another person as an object for gratification rather than honoring them as God commands. Worldly sorrow only regrets consequences, but godly sorrow turns from sin, forsakes it, and receives forgiveness and a new beginning through Jesus. We pray that both he and the woman involved would experience that true repentance, turn from every wrong path, and put God first.
We join you in praying that every idol would be exposed and torn down. When the kings of old turned back to God, they cut down the groves and removed the idols from the land. In the same way, we ask the mighty God to reveal anything that is taking His rightful place in these lives, whether it is greed, lust, control, or any other false god, and to destroy its power so that He alone is worshiped.
We also hear the weight of what you have suffered, including the danger to your life and the fear that others were hired to harm you. The early believers in Thessalonica also faced heavy persecution, and their faith grew and their love for one another increased even under pressure. Persecution never destroys the true church, it refines it, and God promises that He is the righteous judge who sees every act of oppression. All who live godly in Christ will face opposition in this world, because the world is in rebellion against God, so we should not be surprised when we are not applauded for standing for what is right. At the same time, Scripture urges us to keep ourselves in the love of God, for we cannot walk away from Him and expect His protection while living outside His covering. We pray for your safety, that God will keep you under His hand, guard you from every plan to harm you, and give you wisdom to seek justice through lawful and proper means, as Paul did when he appealed to the authorities for justice.
Our prayer is that God will protect you, comfort you, let truth come fully to light concerning the apartment and all that was done, bring deep repentance where there has been sin, remove every idol, and cause faith and love to grow even in this hard trial. May the small seed of faithful witness in that family grow like the mustard seed into something that gives life, and may the Lord be your defender and your peace.
