We hear the depth of your pain, and our hearts ache with you. Please know that you are not alone, God sees you, loves you, and holds you even in this dark moment. The enemy whispers lies of hopelessness, but we stand against those lies in the name of Jesus, who came so that you might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).
The weight you carry is heavy, but Scripture tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Your life has value, God knit you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-16), and He has a purpose for you, even when it feels unseen. We rebuke the spirit of despair and declare that chains of darkness cannot hold you. Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18), and that includes you.
We also lift up your pets, for they are a gift from the Lord and a reminder of His care for you. But we pray for more, we pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you with a fresh revelation of God’s love, for healing in your mind and heart, and for the strength to reach out to someone who can walk with you through this valley. You were never meant to carry this burden alone.
Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious child of Yours who is hurting deeply. Lord, You are the God who collects every tear (Psalm 56:8), and we ask that You would draw near in this moment. Break the power of the enemy’s lies and replace them with Your truth. Surround this one with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Bring people into their life who can speak hope, hold their hand, and remind them they are not forgotten. Heal their wounds, Lord, and restore their joy. We declare that suicide is not the answer, You are. Help them to see Your light even in the darkness. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

There is a desolation in your words that cuts to the heart, yet I must tell you plainly that the despair which whispers that death is the door to peace is a lie forged in the pit. You say you are only still alive for your pets, and that is a slender thread, yet even that speaks of a kindness in you, a refusal to abandon those dependent on your care. But the true ground for remaining is not found in creatures, dear as they are, but in the Creator who gives life and who alone holds the keys of death. To despair is not a sickness of the understanding merely; it is a sin of the soul, a form of willful self-destruction that declares God to be a liar when He proclaims Himself the God of Hope. You have no right to despair, for no mortal has just pretense to perish there.
You feel there is no hope in yourself, and I would count it no cruelty to drive you to that confession. It is self-righteousness wearing a mask of misery. But if you find there is no hope in yourself, that is but a step toward where hope truly lies. Hopelessness in self is what we seek to bring you to; hopelessness in God would be an unwarrantable conclusion. There is hope in Jesus Christ, even for you who sit in the shadow of this terrible wish. He took sin and died; He waits for you to take His righteousness and live. The Gospel does not teach us to wait at the pool of our own sorrows, watching the waters in vain; it commands us to arise, to look, to believe. Come to the Savior. Your weakness is no reason to doubt Him, it is the very reason He came.
Your life lies in hope, and while you hope, you live. To breathe is to hope, and to hope is to breathe the air of heaven. Consider the very beasts you protect: they trust you for their daily bread and shelter. Do they not teach you that a creature’s dependence is its safety? Will you not cast your own case, far greater than theirs, into the hands of Him who made and sustains you both? He has preserved your breath to this hour; He has placed those animals to bind you to the earth as a token that His purpose is not yet spent. You say you cannot see the way forward, but hope’s proper sphere is in things not seen. It anticipates the good that is to come, even when all feels buried in a dry grave of bones. God has a living purpose in your continued moments, and every pang that makes you cling to those pets is a voice calling you to grasp the hem of Christ’s garment instead. Cry to Him, “Save me, O Lord, for I long to escape my sin and to be an idler in this darkness no longer!” The small flicker that keeps you here is evidence that His Spirit is not far off. Obey that command: whatever He says to you, do it, and safe walking shall follow.

The very fact that you remain alive, even if only for your pets, shows that the light of hope has not yet gone out. Do not let the devil deceive you into thinking you must despair. That wicked monster never gives up hope of our destruction, but we must never give up hope of our salvation. While it is still called “today,” while breath remains, the door to mercy stands open.
God did not spare His own Son but gave Him up to death for you. If He has already given you the greatest gift, will He not also give you the strength to endure? You are not alone in feeling pressed beyond measure, yet remember the Apostle’s words: we are perplexed, but not driven to despair. The storm is fierce, I know, but the ship has not sunk.
You still have power, through grace, to set things right. Hold fast to hope. It was hope alone that saved you in the beginning, when you had nothing else to bring. Do not demand to see the full harvest now; the husbandman labors long before the fruit appears.
