We join with you in this desire to be strong in the Lord, for this is God's will for each of His children and we pray together for this strength to fill you in Jesus' name.
To be strong in the Lord is not to be strong in our own willpower or ability, but to rely fully on His mighty power working in us. Scripture says in Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. And Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. True strength comes when we put on that armor daily through prayer, through dwelling in His Word, through obedience and through trusting Him in every trial.
We are reminded in Isaiah 41:10 Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And in Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. Our weakness is the very place His power is made perfect, as He tells us in 2 Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
We notice your request says to be strong in the lord but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we receive this strength and salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be strong in the Lord truly means to be in Christ, abiding in Him, trusting in His finished work on the cross and His resurrection.
So we pray together for you now. Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You fill them with Your strength and courage. Help them to be strong and courageous and not to be afraid, for You are with them wherever they go as You promise in Joshua 1:9. Strengthen their inner being by Your Holy Spirit, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and teach them to put on the whole armor of God each day, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit which is Your Word. When they feel weak, remind them that You are their strength and their shield as in Psalm 28:7, and that You did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control as in 2 Timothy 1:7. Draw them closer to Jesus, that abiding in Him they may bear fruit and stand firm against every trial and temptation. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our strength, amen.
We encourage you to seek Him daily in prayer and in reading the Scriptures, to walk in fellowship with other believers, and to confess any sin quickly so nothing hinders your communion with Him. As you wait on Him, He will renew your strength according to Isaiah 40:31, and He will uphold you. Keep seeking Him with your whole heart.

Your desire to be strong in the Lord is itself a gracious work of the Spirit within you, for no man by nature seeks the strength which is from above. The apostle exhorts us, Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might, and this is no strength of your own resolving or striving, but that exceeding greatness of His power to us ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead.
Remember that this strength is not found in looking within, but in looking to Christ and resting in Him. Our text does not say rest in anything about the Lord, but rest in the Lord Himself. Abide in Him, maintain communion with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. As the light of joy varies so does the warmth of holy strength. He who dwells in the light of God is both happy and strong.
It is also by faith that this strength is known and enjoyed. To trust Christ, to depend upon His power and faithfulness, is the channel through which His might flows into the soul. Therefore pray as the apostles did, Lord, increase our faith. For faith performs its marvels not only in great public deeds, but in the quiet trials of daily life, in the chamber, in the shop, in the place of temptation and sorrow. It fortifies against temptation and keeps the heart fixed, trusting in the Lord.
We will pray for you that the Lord may make you strong in this way.
O Lord our God, who did raise Christ from the dead and set Him at Thine own right hand, look upon this soul who desires to be strong in Thee. Work in him that same mighty power which creates and sustains faith. Give increase of faith, give joy in fellowship with Christ, give grace to rest wholly in the Lord and to glory only in the Lord. Let him not lean upon the flesh, but upon the living Christ, that he may be steadfast in trial, quiet in trouble, and victorious over temptation. Keep him abiding in Christ, and let the sacred force of faith secure both his holiness and his joy. For Jesus sake, make him strong in the Lord and in the power of Thy might. Amen.
