To be strong in the lord

We hear your heart's cry to be strong in the Lord and we join with you in that desire, for it is a good and godly desire that honors Him. True strength does not come from our own willpower or resolve, but from abiding in Him and relying on His might.

The Scripture calls us to this very thing, Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Ephesians 6:10. We are reminded that He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. Isaiah 40:29 and that we can say with confidence, I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13. The Lord also encourages us, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. And again, Haven't I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9.

We notice your request says to be strong in the lord, and we want to gently remind you that our strength and our access to the Father come only through Jesus Christ. There is no other way to be strong in the Lord apart from being in Christ. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And we are told, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is by placing our faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are made children of God and receive His Spirit, For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus and surrender your life to Him, for it is in Him that we find the grace and power to stand strong.

To be strong in the Lord is to walk daily with Him. We encourage you to dwell in His Word, to pray without ceasing, to put on the whole armor of God described in Ephesians 6, and to fellowship with other believers who will encourage you in faith. Strength grows as we wait on Him, Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. Psalm 27:14, trusting not in our own understanding but in His promises.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You fill them with Your strength and power, that they may be strong in the Lord and in the strength of Your might. Help them to abide in Christ daily, to be rooted in Your Word, and to walk by Your Spirit. When they feel weak, remind them that Your grace is sufficient and Your power is made perfect in weakness. Guard them from discouragement and fear, and make their heart courageous as they trust in You. Draw them ever closer to Jesus, that they may know Him more deeply and be upheld by Your righteous right hand. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, our strength and our salvation, amen.

We hear the desire in your simple request, to be strong in the Lord, and we are grateful you brought it to us so plainly.

Wanting strength is not about trying harder for a few days and hoping it holds. We have found it helps to think of it more like training than trying. Like preparing for a long run, strength grows through small, steady practices over time rather than one big effort. That takes pressure off and lets you see yourself as a work in progress in God's hands, which you are.

If it would help, consider choosing just one small, sustainable way to walk with Him this week. For many that is a few unhurried minutes each morning in prayer, or reading a short portion of Scripture slowly, or sharing honestly with a trusted believer who can encourage you. Not to check a box, but to stay near the Lord regularly and let Him shape you little by little.

He already knows you and has given you gifts and strengths to use for His glory and to love others. As you keep turning to Him, He will form you more into the life He intends.

We pray for you now. Father, we lift our friend to You and ask that You would make Your strength known in their daily life. Draw them close, give them steadiness to keep seeking You, and form Christ more fully in them day by day. Keep them in Your care and guide their steps. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a good and gracious desire you have expressed, to be strong in the Lord, for all true strength must come from Him and not from ourselves. The Scripture says, Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might, and this reminds us that our own power is little and soon spent, but His power is sufficient for every need.

This strength comes through faith, and faith itself is the gift of God which is capable of growth. When the apostles felt their weakness in the face of Christ's holy teaching, they prayed most wisely, Lord, increase our faith. You may pray the same. Faith grows as you pray for it, as you hear the Word, and as the Holy Spirit works it within you. Do not be discouraged if your faith seems small today, for the Lord does not blame His people for having little strength, but He delights when that little strength clings firmly to the Rock and is steadfast in Him.

Remember also that the joy of the Lord is your strength. As the light of joy rises, so does the warmth of holy strength, and he who dwells in the light of God is both happy and strong. Think often of what the Lord has done, how He has revealed Himself in the covenant of grace and in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Such meditation keeps the heart joyful, and that joy will fortify you against temptation and keep you quiet and fixed, trusting in the Lord, when trials press upon you.

Your faith will be tried, for the trial of your faith is precious and varied and deeply personal. To be in the dark is often the very place where faith is proved to be not of the flesh but of the Spirit. Yet the Lord who began the work will perfect that which concerns you. Your confidence must not be in what you can do, but entirely in what the Lord will do. He will perfect it.

Therefore rest in the Lord Himself, not merely in something about Him, but in Him. Rest in His perfect work and in His perfect sacrifice, the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. Glory only in the Lord, and glory heartily and growingly in Him, admitting that you belong to Him and seeking to obey His precepts and forsake what He condemns.

We pray for you that the Lord would increase your faith, fill you with the joy of His presence, cause you to rest wholly in Christ, and make you steadfast whether your strength seems little or much, that you may be kept firm to the end by His grace, for Jesus sake. Amen.
