storm

We come before the Lord together, lifting up our hearts in the midst of this storm, both the physical tempest outside and the trials that may weigh heavily on our spirits. The winds may howl, the rains may fall, and the thunder may roar, but we stand firm in the truth that our God is greater than any storm. He is the One who commands the winds and the waves, and He holds us securely in His hands.

The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 107:28-29, "Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress. He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still." Even now, we cry out to Him, trusting that He hears us and will bring peace to the chaos around us and within us. We also remember the words of Jesus in Mark 4:39, when He rebuked the storm and said, "Peace, be still!" and there was a great calm. Let us hold fast to that same peace, knowing that Christ is with us in the boat, even when the waves threaten to overwhelm us.

Father, we pray for protection over every home, every family, and every life in the path of this storm. Shield those who are vulnerable, comfort those who are afraid, and guide those who must make decisions to keep others safe. We ask for Your mercy to cover us, that no harm would come to any of Your children. Strengthen the hands of first responders, emergency workers, and all those who are working to keep others safe. Give them wisdom, endurance, and courage as they serve in the midst of this trial.

We also recognize that storms in life are not just physical, they can be emotional, spiritual, or relational. If there is anyone among us who is facing a storm of fear, anxiety, or uncertainty, we pray that You would calm their hearts with Your perfect peace. If there is anyone struggling with sin, temptation, or brokenness, we ask that You would speak truth into their lives and draw them closer to You. If there is anyone who does not yet know You as their Lord and Savior, we pray that this storm would be a wake-up call, a moment where they turn to You and find the hope that only comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

Lord, we confess that sometimes we try to weather these storms on our own, forgetting that You are our refuge and strength. Forgive us for the times we have doubted Your power or Your love. Remind us that even when the winds rage, You are our anchor. Help us to trust You more deeply, to seek You more earnestly, and to rest in Your promises.

We also rebuke any spirit of fear that may be trying to take hold in our hearts. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." Fear does not come from You, Lord, so we reject it in the name of Jesus. Instead, we choose to walk in faith, knowing that You are with us and that You will never leave us nor forsake us.

For those who may be facing storms in their marriages or relationships, we pray for restoration and healing. If there is unfaithfulness, bitterness, or division, we ask that You would soften hearts and bring reconciliation according to Your will. Help couples to honor their vows and to love one another as Christ loves the church. For those who are single and seeking a godly spouse, we pray that You would guide their steps and prepare their hearts for the marriage You have ordained for them. May they not be tempted by the ways of the world but instead pursue holiness and righteousness in their relationships.

Lord, we also lift up those who may be struggling with sin in their lives, whether it be sexual immorality, addiction, anger, or any other temptation. We ask that You would break the chains of bondage and set them free. Your Word tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." Give them the strength to resist temptation and the courage to turn away from sin.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who calms the storms and saves us from the depths. There is no other name by which we can be saved, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. If anyone reading this does not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we urge them to turn to Him today. Romans 10:9 says, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is a free gift, offered to all who believe. Do not wait, surrender your life to Him and find the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, as we face this storm together, we declare that we are not shaken. We are not afraid. We trust in You, our Rock and our Redeemer. May Your name be glorified in the midst of this trial, and may Your light shine brightly even in the darkest moments. We love You, Lord, and we place our lives in Your hands.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We’re thinking of you this evening as the storm rolls through. There’s something deeply unsettling about watching the sky turn and hearing the wind pick up, and it’s completely natural to feel that tightening in your chest. We’re holding you and everyone else in the storm’s path before the Lord right now, asking Him to spread His protection over your home, your loved ones, and your neighbors. We pray especially for anyone who may be especially vulnerable tonight, the elderly, young children, or those who live alone, that they would have a particular sense of being held safe.

It helps to remember that many of us across this praying community are lifting the same need right now; you are not alone in this, and neither are those around you. As you wait it out, maybe take a quiet moment, if you can, just to rest in the knowledge that you’ve been named before God’s throne this evening. That doesn’t dismiss how rough it feels, but it does anchor us.

Lord, in Jesus’ name we ask for a calming of this storm, that the winds would not reach destructive force, that the rain would not flood, and that no lives would be lost. Place Your angels around every home in the path. And please quiet every anxious heart, letting Your peace settle over each household until the skies clear. We trust You in the howling wind just as much as in the calm that follows. Amen.

The winds are up and the skies are black with the storm, yet this evening is no stranger to the hand of God. When the tempest howls around the dwelling, it is but a rough hewing from the Lord’s own axe, and He means no destruction in it for His own. The same voice that thundered upon Sinai speaks peace to the soul that hides itself in Jesus Christ. Let every bolt of lightning remind you that the Almighty walks upon the wings of the wind, and let every blast drive you the nearer to that Rock which no storm can shake. Yes, the rough usage of the elements turns our hearts to see how utterly dependent we are upon Him, and that is a blessed lesson.

Now, take hold of this promise: at evening time it shall be light. The natural eye sees only the gathering gloom and the driving rain, but faith beholds the Lord riding upon the cherubim and commanding all things for the good of His elect. We are a praying people, and this very building has been consecrated by answers to prayer. The disciples huddled together in their desolation and continued with one accord in supplication, so let this storm press you deeper into the fellowship of those who call upon His name. Cry to Him, for His ear is not heavy that it cannot hear. Let your prayer be argumentative, like Jacob’s, pleading the promises and the blood of the covenant, and though the answer may not come as you think, it shall come fresh from the throne of grace.

Yet, beloved, see to it that this rough weather does more than drive you to seek shelter for the body. The Lord deals roughly with His children that they may sparkle and glitter with divine grace which would otherwise remain unknown. The storm is a preacher, hewing away the dead boughs of self-trust and worldliness. Hear its voice: only in Christ is there safety. Cast yourselves upon Him anew, not merely for deliverance from the tempest, but from the wrath to come. The hand of the Lord is upon you this evening, let it be a gentle hand, molding your spirits for the eternal calm where no storm ever rises. We shall commit ourselves to sleep under His divine protection, for He neither slumbers nor sleeps who keeps Israel. Amen, so let it be in Jesus' name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

When the storm rages outside, remember that your soul can be a heaven, bright and undisturbed. The clouds gather and the winds howl, but the heaven itself remains unchanged, high above the rains and the storm, reached by none of them. So too, if you order your mind aright, no outward turmoil can shake you. It is not the raging sea that makes the tempest within, but the condition of our own thoughts. For the truly marvelous thing is that not in fair weather, but when the storm is vehement and the trials continual, the one who follows after virtue cannot be moved ever so little. Cultivate that inner calm, and you will stand above the waves in perfect safety. Pray for all, as you do, and seek the peace of Christ, which is the mother of all good things. He who stilled the tempest with a word is with you; trust in Him, and let your hearts be at rest. For the true storm is in the soul, and He is the Lord of peace.

The winds are fierce tonight, but they don't surprise the Lord. He commands the storm, and He holds you in the palm of His hand. I'm joining you in prayer right now, asking Jesus to be your shelter and to bring calm where the gusts are strongest. Remember how Paul, caught in that raging Mediterranean storm for fourteen days, had no control over the waves, yet God had a purpose and a safe landing. The same God is with you in this rough weather. When the thunder rolls, let it remind you of His awesome power, and when the house creaks, run to the strong tower of His name. You are safe there. We're praying for everyone's protection and for a quiet night once the storm passes.
