Spiritual Attacks

Your prayer request has been heard and taken to heart, and the weight you are carrying is clear. To be pressed at work, in finances, in your home, and in concern for your son all at once can feel like an attack from every side, and it is right to bring it all to the Lord.

First, I want to remind you of the foundation for every prayer we offer. God has made one provision for the forgiveness of sins and the removal of guilt, and that is through His only Son. It is through the blood of Jesus that peace with God is made possible, and the Holy Spirit bears witness to our hearts that this is true. If we have received Jesus, the war with God is over. We are no longer running from Him or fighting against Him, and that peace with God becomes the ground for everything else we ask. If you have not already settled this, turn fully to Christ and trust Him alone for salvation, for there is no other way of forgiveness in this world or the world to come.

Scripture says God offers peace to those who are far off and to those who are near, and He promises to heal. He is our peace, the one who has broken down the wall between us and God. For those who continue in rebellion there is no peace, they remain like a troubled sea, but for those who come to Him through Jesus there is a deep and beautiful peace within. The Lord wants you to live in that peace. He has made a peace treaty with you through the cross.

That helps us understand the difference between peace with God and the peace of God. Peace with God comes through the sacrifice of Christ. The peace of God is what keeps your heart and mind steady day by day. The promise is that He will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world cannot understand this peace, and it passes all understanding, but it guards our hearts when we keep our eyes on Him. That is why the letters in the New Testament so often say grace and peace, in that order. We must first know His grace, His unmerited favor in forgiving us through Christ, and then we can know His peace.

This wisdom that comes from above is itself peaceable. It leads to peace and it sows peace. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God, and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. When we sow peace, we reap a harvest of righteousness.

With that in mind I am praying for you in these specific ways.

For your work and the hearing on the three charges, I pray that the Lord will bring truth into the light and give your leaders clear eyes to see what is just. I pray He will give you wisdom and that your words will be clear, truthful, and well received, and that He will protect you from an unjust sanction of dismissal. Whether the outcome is deliverance from the charge or strength to walk through it, may you keep your mind stayed on Christ and trust Him to do what is right and good.

For your finances, I pray that God who sees your need to provide for your family will open doors for honest provision, so that you are not driven to keep borrowing to run your home. May He grant you wisdom in stewardship and supply what you need according to His will.

For peace in your home, I pray that the peace of Christ would rule there. Where small matters have been turning into large arguments, pray for a spirit of peacemaking. Ask God to help each of you to sow peace in your words and actions, to be quick to listen and slow to anger, so that His peace which is from above can bring calm within your walls.

For your son, I pray that the Lord will encourage him and help him to finish his high school diploma, and that he will come to know the blessing and anointing that comes from walking with Jesus. May God guide him into the future He has for him and draw him close to Himself.

For the open door to move to the country where you have been approved, I pray for the Lord's clear guidance, protection, and favor. May He show you and your son the right steps to take, give you counsel in what to say and do, and cause you to prosper in the way that honors Him.

May the Lord, who is called Wonderful Counselor and Prince of Peace, keep you in His perfect peace as you trust in Him, and may His grace and mercy be with you. I pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have forgiveness and access to the Father.
