We join you in prayer about this frustrating situation with your vehicle and your neighbor across the street, and we thank you for bringing it before the Lord in Jesus' name. We rejoice that you have called upon that name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6
We understand how upsetting it is to find trash placed on your vehicle when you have been polite and have not bothered anyone, and to feel targeted for legally parking on a public street. We hear your desire for protection for yourself and your vehicle and for peace where you live, and we bring that before the Lord with you.
We also want to lovingly address what happened after you found the trash. You shared that you threw it back in her yard plus on the sidewalk. We understand the anger in that moment, but Scripture calls us to a different response. We are told, Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. Romans 12:17 and not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult; but instead blessing; knowing that to this were you called, that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9 The Lord also says, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19 Throwing the trash back, even when we feel justified, returns evil for evil and can stir up more drama and even create legal trouble for you for littering, and it does not reflect the peacemaking heart God desires for us. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. Matthew 5:9 and Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21
God sees what was done to your vehicle, whether it was this woman or someone else, and He will handle justice in His perfect way. Our part is to seek peace and to love even those who mistreat us. Jesus tells us, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Matthew 5:44 and A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 We encourage you not to retaliate again if this happens, but to quietly remove any trash and dispose of it properly, to document what happens with photos and dates if there is a pattern, and if needed to calmly involve the proper authorities rather than taking matters into your own hands. Let us also seek peace and pursue it as Psalm 34:14 says, Depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it.
We pray together for you and for this neighbor and for your street.
Father, in Jesus' name we lift up this situation to You. You see all that has happened and You know who placed trash on this vehicle. We ask for Your protection over our dear neighbor and over the vehicle when it is parked, whether in front of the home across the street or elsewhere. We claim Your promise that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2 Place a hedge around this property and this vehicle and let no drama or harm come near. Give wisdom about where to park and help there to be peace on this street.
Lord, we ask You to work in the heart of the woman across the street. If she is acting out of anger or territorial feelings about parking, soften her heart and help her to know You. We pray for her salvation and peace, and that You would convict her if she has been harassing others. If she is not the one involved, reveal the truth and prevent false accusation. Help our neighbor to forgive as You have forgiven us, to not hold onto bitterness, and to overcome evil with good. Give grace to be a gentle and respectful neighbor while also not living in fear. If lawful authorities need to be involved for ongoing harassment, guide those steps to be done decently and in order. We ask that You would bring quiet and respect to this neighborhood for everyone who lives there. In Jesus' mighty name we pray, Amen.
