I work from home and we've had severe weather in my area lately. The other day, I had to leave work early because the weather knocked out my power. Please pray this won't happen again as my job has strict attendance policies and now I only have three more times I can be absent or tardy in the next 60 days (having to clock out early is classified as an absence) or I'll risk losing my job. We also take comfort in Matthew 8:26, where Jesus rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Just as He had authority over the storm then, He has authority over the storms in your life now. We pray that He will calm the weather in your area and grant you the stability you need to fulfill your work responsibilities.
Lord, we come before You, asking for Your divine intervention in this situation. We pray for protection over [this individual] and their home during times of severe weather. Father, we ask that You would calm the storms, both literal and figurative, that threaten their peace and security. Provide them with the strength and wisdom to navigate this season, and grant them favor with their employer. We ask that You would open doors of opportunity for them to make up any lost time or find creative solutions to avoid further absences. We trust in Your provision, Lord, and we know that You are their ultimate Provider. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

I hear of the storms and the dread they bring, that your power may fail again and your job be forfeited under strict policies, with only three chances left. This affliction is real, and I do not make light of it. Yet I would lift your eyes higher. What is your true security? Not in uninterrupted electricity or an employer's attendance ledger, but in the pasture of the Lord, where none can thrust you out. He calls, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Not mere comfort, but a placing in all security, for He who feeds His sheep will not desert them in the tempest.
Consider the saints. Cornelius was a centurion, Paul a leather-worker, David a king, Job a man of great substance, yet their callings were no hindrance to virtue. Job lost everything in a single day and still blessed God. Paul was beaten, shipwrecked, and often in want, yet he learned to be content. Why then do we tremble before a loss of wages as if our life consisted in these things? I lament when I see Christians so anxious to increase their possessions, yet no one trembles lest he fall into hell. One fear possesses all: "Lest we become poor." But where is the fear of sin? These storms are a call to examine your heart. If the power fails and you must clock out, or even if you lose your job, will you lose Christ? That is the only loss worth anything like terror.
Indeed, the weather may test you again. But do not let the enemy bind a heavy burden of fear upon you while Christ offers a light yoke. Run to Him, and once you have seized the prize of faith, flee beyond the devil's reach so that anxiety may not snatch it away. War against the imaginations that exalt earthly security against the knowledge of God. Your job is not your idol; the elements are weak and beggarly rudiments if trusted in. I pray not merely that the storms would cease, but that you would find the rest that is given to the afflicted at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with His mighty angels. In the meantime, do what duty requires, and leave the outcome with confidence in His care. He knows your need. Cast your burden on Him, and He will sustain you. That is the only real security.

Your situation presses heavily on you right now, and I understand why. When the power failed and the clock ran out, you lost more than electricity; you felt your livelihood slip a little further toward the edge. ### chances left in ### days is a narrow margin, and the thought of another storm triggering another unplanned absence must feel like a weight you cannot set down.
Job knew something about sudden losses that strike without warning. In a single day, everything he relied on was stripped away, possessions, servants, even his children. His response did not come from a place of easy trust. He fell to the ground, he grieved deeply, yet he spoke words that still startle us: the Lord gave, the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. He received not only good from God’s hand but also what was bitter and bewildering, and even then he did not sin with his lips. That does not mean you have to pretend the pressure is not real or that your anxiety about work is trivial. It does mean you are allowed to bring that anxiety honestly before God without being accused of faithlessness.
Be careful not to draw the wrong lesson from hardship. Job’s friends watched his misery and concluded he must have done something to deserve it. They were certain that innocent people do not suffer like that. But they spoke from partial knowledge, seeing only the surface, never grasping the fuller story. You might be tempted to wonder if some failure of your own invited this trouble or if God is holding back something good from you. That is a lie the enemy has whispered since the garden, that God’s boundaries keep us from what would truly enrich us, when in reality He often protects us from what would destroy us. Do not let the pressure of strict attendance policies push you into that kind of fatalism. Your job matters, but your standing before God does not rise and fall with your attendance record.
What Job could not see, and what his friends could never supply, was someone to bridge the gap between a holy God and a suffering man. He cried out for a daysman, a mediator who could lay a hand on both and bring them together. We have what Job only longed for. Jesus Christ stands in that very place, fully acquainted with our weaknesses, touched by the things that frighten us, yet mighty to save. The cry that rises from your heart right now, for protection, for provision, for a steady income, finds its answer in Him. He knows what it is to face deprivation and uncertainty, and He intercedes for you with a sympathy His friends could not give.
So pray with boldness. Ask God to hold back the storms that threaten your home and your work, and ask Him to sustain you even if the weather turns fierce again. Do not let fear of tomorrow rob you of peace today. Make your requests known, and then, as much as it depends on you, trust that the One who set limits on what Satan could take from Job has also set limits on what touches you. You may not understand all His purposes right now, none of us fully does, but you can rest in the character of the God who does not afflict from His heart or grieve the children of men without cause.

He has redeemed you from death, and He will carry you through lesser calamities according to His wisdom.
