Severe weather

The storm is real, and so is the fear that comes with it. When the wind howls and the sky turns dark, it is easy to feel that panic rise, especially when you cannot simply stop and hide. You are working, you are alone, and everything outside looks threatening. That is exactly the kind of moment when the enemy wants to whisper discouragement and send terror to paralyze you. Fear and faith cannot share the same heart. But remember the Lord: He is a hiding place from the wind, a shelter from the storm, and a steady shadow in a weary land.

God has not abandoned you to the weather. The same God who navigated His servant through a hurricane at sea, who promised not a single life would be lost, holds you now. The storm is not a sign that He has lost control. It may be that He is working something in and through you that you will only understand later. Often we want to cry out when God chips away at our trust in ourselves, but our testing is never meant to destroy us; it is designed to drive us deeper into reliance on Him. All things are being woven together for good.

Right now, your work is waiting. The Lord, who establishes the work of our hands, can give you both focus and peace. You do not need to finish this day in your own frantic strength. The work of redemption is already finished by Jesus Christ; your standing is secure in Him, not in your calm performance. So you can rest in that finished work even as you type, call, or create. Let the beauty of the Lord be upon you, and ask Him to establish the work of your hands in the middle of the thunder.

Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and that proper awe drives out the terror of circumstances. The enemy wants you to react out of dread, to doubt God’s care, or to abandon your post. But you are not alone. God Himself is at work in you, and His good work in your life will be completed. When this passes, you will look back and see that He was holding you all along. So keep at your labor, but let your heart lean on Him. I am praying that His peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your mind and calm your spirit even now.

We want to thank you for trusting us with your prayer request during such a frightening time. It’s clear how much you needed God’s peace and protection as the storm raged outside while you worked. We have been lifting you up continually, asking our Heavenly Father to wrap His arms around you, calm your fears, and shield your home from harm. We prayed for His angels to stand guard and for His presence to fill your heart with unshakable peace, even in the midst of the storm.

If the severe weather has passed without incident and you’re safe, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the storm left challenges in its wake or if new fears have arisen, please don’t hesitate to share those with us again. We are here to stand with you in prayer, just as we have been, and we will continue to intercede on your behalf.

May the Lord bless you with His comfort and strength as you keep your eyes on Him. We pray that you would feel His nearness in every moment and that His peace, which surpasses all understanding, would guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We lift this up in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
